Grandparents' Day Lunch

Approximately 300 grandparents and guests came from near and far to enjoy lunch with our learners! Thank you so much for sharing your families with us!

Check out our LaRue Miller Elementary PTO Facebook Page for pictures!

Golden Spoon Winners!

Each day, classes have the opportunity to earn the "Golden Spoon" for good behavior in the cafeteria. On Fridays, a class name is drawn, and the students in that class are rewarded with a surprise treat.

Congratulations to the following classes for winning the Golden Spoon on Friday:

  • Mrs. Nanney
  • Mrs. King
  • Ms. Samek
  • Ms. Hickman
  • Ms. Williams
  • Mrs. Kids

Hurricane Helpers

Our LME Families have donated almost $800 to contribute to Midlothian ISD's efforts to raise funds for the Red Cross as part of the Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts. That is AMAZING! We will continue to collect funds through Friday, September 15.

Our campus has a unique opportunity to help a campus that has been affected by this recent disaster. We have "adopted" Normandy Crossing Elementary in Galena Park ISD. This school serves approximately 650 learners (PK - 5) with a staff of 88. Irene Benzor, principal, has expressed a need for shoes, school supplies, and school uniforms (see graphic below). We will collect items on campus through Friday, September 15, or you may ship items directly to the campus.

Device Fees

If you have not yet paid your child's device fee, please do so! You can pay with your credit/debit card here, or you can send cash/check to campus with your child.

ELA Grading Changes and Progress Reports

Last week, the elementary handbook was amended to note a change in the grading policy. All grades will count an equal percentage in all subjects. Previously, writing and grammar each counted as 40% and spelling counted as 20% of the English/Language Arts grade. Now, all assignments will count as an equal part of the final grade.

Progress reports are sent home as parent notification for students who are performing under 75% in any core subject. For the 1st nine week, progress reports will be sent home on 9/20. After the 1st nine weeks, progress reports will be sent home every 3rd and 6th week of subsequent nine week periods.
