Climate Survey
Next week we will administer the Winter Student Climate Survey. As a reminder, this short survey gauges students' perceptions of their learning environment, sense of belonging at school, and emotional wellness. More now than ever, it is important for us to have an understanding of their thoughts around these important topics.
Students in grades 1-3 will take the survey at home next week. Families should watch for a stand-alone message first thing Monday morning with a link to the survey. The window will close on Sunday, January 31. Students in grades 4 and 5 will take the survey in school next week during their Technology classes.
As always, any response of concern will be followed-up upon by school staff, with communication to parents. Thank you for your support of this invaluable chance to check in with our students!
MAP Testing Logistics for 2nd - 5th Grades
As a reminder, all of the details with regards to our plan for MAP testing headed your way via email this week; if you missed them, never fear -- you can find links to all of it here!
The Basic Gist:
- 2nd graders will test in their classrooms with their teachers on Tuesday, 2/2, and Thursday, 2/4.
- All 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will take their READING MAP test on Friday, 2/5, during the Remote Learning Planning Day; this will occur at school, in grade-band shifts. See the specific grade-level documents (attached below) for more specifics.
- 3rd graders will take their MATH MAP test on Wednesday, 2/3, during their opposing time of the day (ie AM kids will test at school in the PM; PM kids will test at school in the AM)
- 4th graders will take their MATH MAP test on Tuesday, 2/2, during their opposing time of the day (ie AM kids will test at school in the PM; PM kids will test at school in the AM)
- 5th graders will take their MATH MAP test on Monday, 2/1, during their opposing time of the day (ie AM kids will test at school in the PM; PM kids will test at school in the AM)
- If you received a schedule that is specific to your child, please follow that schedule and NOT your grade-level logistical details document.
- All students with accommodations as per their IEP/504 plans will receive their accommodations; please feel free to reach out if you need more information for your child!
- Please reach out to me ASAP if your child is unable to attend their testing session.

REMINDERS:
Updated "Should I Come to School Today" FLOWCHART
A few of the highlights on the updated guidance documents include:
1. The additional option for returning from quarantine after 7 days with a negative COVID PCR test. You will note this option, per IDPH guidance, is only available for adults.
2. The addition of "loss of taste and/or smell" and "congestion" (with descriptors) in the Symptoms box.
3. Clarification that only PCR COVID tests provide the necessary clearance necessary as described throughout the Flowchart.
4. Clarification that a rapid test result of negative does not provide relief to return to school while an outstanding PCR test result has not yet been received.
5. Definition clarification language that "Close Contact" is unchanged whether or not masks have been worn.
6. Clarifying language on how quarantine requirements are determined for members of a household in the instance of a COVID positive case.
