Family Update

Dublin Jerome High School

Sept. 3rd, 2021

slow. small. daily.

A message from me...

Good Afternoon!

It was a busy week at Jerome! I was able to get out and about in some classrooms and it has been great to see the engagement and learning taking place. It continues to affirm what we all know. Our students need to be at school with our teachers!

We appreciate all that you are doing to support us in helping keep them safe. We continue to monitor all of our relevant data to provide the safest environment possible. The best tools we have are highly recommending masking and vaccination.

Please communicate with us if you have questions. Someone (school nurse, principal, assistant principal) will get back to you.

Everyone has earned the upcoming 3-day weekend! Enjoy it!

I am grateful for all of you!

Go Celts!

PSAT on Wednesday, October 13

Dublin City Schools will be offering the PSAT/NMSQT to all current Juniors on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 free of cost. All Juniors are automatically registered for this testing opportunity.

Current Freshman and Sophomore students interested in this testing opportunity must complete the registration form: PSAT Registration 9th & 10th Grade Students and submit the $25 testing fee payment through their PaySchools account. Financial assistance is available for those students who qualify. Registration for Freshman and Sophomore students will close on September 8, 2021. There will be limited seating available this fall and students will be admitted based on date of registration and payment completion.

Please reach out to your counselor or Mrs. Hampton if you have any questions.

Small Lunch Adjustments

I wanted to give you a quick update on some adjustments we are making for signing in at lunch. As with any process, you gather data, monitor, and evaluate for a certain period of time.

We have done that with the lunch QR codes and we are going to make some small adjustments based on that concept.

Here are the adjustments:

  • We will be removing the QR codes from the tables and add new stands with the QR code in them (see below).
  • This will allow us to keep consistent table numbers. So Table 62 will always be Table 62.
  • Hopefully, this will help with signing in each day but if you forget, you should be able to remember your number.
  • You can still sit where you have been this is a purely procedural change.

Thanks again for your flexibility and patience.

We have been distributing yearbooks during lunches. The Jerome Yearbook is a student publication and as you may recall they determined a unique theme for last year. So as you review it please keep that in mind. Here is the description provided to families and students during last year from the yearbook class.

Please if you have questions you may reach out to Mrs. McJunkin.

Parking Pass Update

Juniors and Seniors began receiving their parking passes this week. We ask students to begin parking in their spots on Tuesday. If you are a junior or a senior and have not registered, you should do so as soon as possible. Stop by the main office if you have questions.

SOPHOMORE DRIVERS: We will send out details to you for parking early next week. You may continue to drive to school, but please use the back part of the lot. The front space areas have been given to the seniors and juniors.

Attendance Procedures

Students leaving early for a Doctor's Appointment, etc.

  • Parents do not need to come into the school to pick up their child.

  • Please have your student bring a note to attendance in the morning stating the time and reason they are leaving.

  • Attendance will write a pass for the student to leave and meet you outside at that time.

  • If you email attendance regarding your student leaving, please tell your student to stop down to attendnce to pick up their pass to leave so they can be dismissed from class.

Dress Code Reminders

With all of our students returning back to school in a full-time capacity, I wanted to take a quick second to remind everyone of our dress code expectations. You can find the overview of our goals and expectations on page 49 and 50 of the Student Handbook.

If we have a concern with a dress code situation we will address it directly with the student and follow up with parents. Thank you for your help and support!
