Parent Info Packet

Welcome to second grade! We are excited about the coming school year and getting to know you and your child. We hope this packet will be a useful resource for you. In it you will find information such as: schedules, contact info and classroom management.

Mrs. Edwards: Science/Social Studies Ciencias/Estudios sociales

This will be my 8th year of teaching and 7th in second grade, which I love. I grew up in Houston but have lived in Austin for 17 years. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a bilingual education degree. I am married and have two wonderful boys, 8 and 4, who both also attend Ridgetop in PK and 3rd grade. My family absolutely loves playing baseball and cheering for all Baylor sports teams.

Mr. Carrillo

I'm excited to start my 4th year as a teacher at Ridgetop, and my second year teaching second grade. Last year I had the honor of being recognized as Teacher of the Year at our school. I have a degree in Bilingual Education with a minor in Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin. This summer I got married sooner than I expected, but I hope to have a bigger celebration next summer. In my free time I enjoy running, reading, and watching movies (especially at Alamo Drafthouse).

Mrs. Batch

Hello! My name is Kate Batch, though some of you may remember me as Ms. Douglas from my previous years at Ridgetop. I taught third and fourth grades at Ridgetop for five years before I left to spend the last three years serving in AISD as a mentor teacher for novice teachers at several campuses around town. I am so excited to be back with my Ridgetop family and am thrilled to be joining the second grade team as your child's math teacher. I'm a native Austinite, graduated from the University of Texas with degrees in Plan II and education and have since received my M.Ed. from Concordia University in the areas of Educational Administration and Curriculum & Instruction. My husband and I welcomed our first child, Niam Ryan, in May of this year, and he certainly keeps me on my toes! When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with family, baking, and eating copious amounts of queso.
