Library Notes

Take a "selfie" with your favorite book and bring in a 4x6 copy of the picture to the LRC in the month of December.

We will post the pictures on the LRC Bulletin board after winter break as part of our "Instagram" display.

If you bring in a picture with a book you will get a scratch n sniff Holiday book mark from your favorite librarians!

Box Tops

This year we are VERY thankful for Box Tops and Soup Labels! Please keep clipping! The proceeds are going to buy equipment for our PE classes.

We are offering a special incentive this semester: the class who clips the most from each grade level will receive an EXTRA PE class from Conley's favorite PE teachers! I wonder who will win????

How do you clip?

SINGLE BOX TOPS:

1. Clip your box tops logos off of participating General Mills products

2. EITHER put them in a baggie OR you can attach them to this collection sheet!

3. Send them to school with your child!

BONUS BOX TOPS OR SOUP LABELS:

1. Clip the Bonus Box Top (anything that says it’s worth 2 or more box tops) or UPC code from participating Campbell’s products

2. Put them in a baggie

3. Send them to school with your child!

Literacy

We learned a little bit more about the presidents this week as we read a story called So You Think You Could be President? We also worked on identifying main idea and details and finding support for the main idea of a story. We also continued to work on opinion writing. Students are learning all about possessives too!

We will be reviewing previous reading skills next week. Therefore, we will have a little extra time with our next spelling list. Our next spelling test will be on Thursday, December 17th.

Math

Our main focus was preparing for our Unit 4 test this week. We reviewed working with decimals and converting metric units. Students need to work really hard to memorize their multiplication facts. We will begin our multiplication unit next week.

Science

We began learning all about energy this week! Students were able to identify the difference between potential and kinetic energy. We put our knowledge to the test by creating a roller coaster. Ask your child to show you the roller coaster website over the weekend. It is fun!
