Good To Know Information

On the Team

On the Team is a charity sponsored program by Mr. Brennan with support from the Wallingford Youth and Social Services. This charity gives money to students whose families cannot afford athletic sign-ups, equipment, camps, etc. Only middle school aged and under are eligible. Please contact Guidance for an application.

Transition 504s and PPTs

The spring is jam packed with transition meetings. Much of April and May are filled with PPT and 504 meetings for students transitioning from elementary to middle school or middle to high school. Annual reviews for both PPTs and 504s will also be taking place.

Possible Failure Letters

With the end of the third marking period, grades were averaged for the first three marking periods and possible failure letters will be mailed home to students who may be in jeopardy of summer school or retention if grades are not improved for the 4th marking period. Counselors will be meeting with students and working with them on strategies for improvement.

Monthly Focus - Gratitude

Gratitude is an emotion expressing appreciation for what you have. The benefits of practicing gratitude are numerous. People who practice gratitude by taking the time to notice and reflect upon the things they're thankful for usually experience happier emotions, feel more alive, get better sleep, express more compassion and kindness, and even have stronger immune systems. Gratitude doesn't need to be practiced only for special occasions: You can be thankful for something simple. A person is never too young to learn about the importance of expressing gratitude. Check out this article on gratitude as tool for positive change. The article is geared toward the classroom, but the ideas are great for home, work and school.
