The Civil War

Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky. Before Lincoln was president he worked in a store. He got married and had four children, one son died. In 1861, he was elected president. He was the16th president during the Civil War. The Northern armies nickname was the Yankees. On April 14th, 1865 he was shot by John Wilkes booth and he died.
Battle of Fort Sumter
The first battle of the Civil War was at Fort Sumter. The North was attacked by surprise. The Union had little squares in the fort so they could shoot at the south. Less than ten soldiers died from the north and south. Two union soldiers died and four confederate soldiers were hurt. The Confederate side won the battle.
