Reading levels

We are already at the mid-point of the first marking period. As teachers are working through a new process in Scholastic for assessing reading levels, they are gathering great information to guide instruction for students. This process takes a little more time and teachers will send home information when it is completed. Reading levels will also be slightly different as they are measured on a different scale. Teachers will send the comparison chart as well. If you have questions, please be sure to reach out to your child's teacher.

IDs & Headphones

Students need to bring their IDs and headphone every day to school. IDs are needed for the bus, cafeteria, and library. Headphones are used in class for their online programs. Please make sure your student has these in their backpack every day. Thank you!

Breakfast procedures

In the morning, students will need to bring their ID to get breakfast. This will help them get through the line more quickly and be able to start their day on time. If your child has lost their ID, they can go to the office and get a replacement for $5.

From the Middle School ...

In an effort to raise awareness for suicide prevention, the Maconaquah Middle School counseling department will be hosting a family slime run during National Suicide Prevention week. Last school year, we also named this week "Love Your Life Week" and our school planned special events each day to lift spirits and give every student the opportunity to create fun memories together. In addition to our school-based special events, this year we would like to involve family and community members to join in on the fun.

Our slime run will take place on an outlined path around a nature reserve on our school property totaling a distance of 1 mile. Hot dogs will be provided at the end of the walk/run. All proceeds will go to the Maconaquah Middle School Counseling department to further support student's mental health needs. Tickets must be purchased at the middle school office using cash or check payable to Maconaquah Middle School. Please see below for more event details.

Date: Thursday, September 8, 2022

Time: 5p.m.

Place: MMS nature preserve beside the cattle barn

Cost: $10 per participant

If you have any questions, please call Mrs. Shone or the middle school front office at 765-689-9131 ext. 4020
