Inside St. Brigid's

Principal ~ Family Meeting...

The monthly Principal ~ Family Meeting was held this past Tuesday evening. The meeting's theme was raising a child in the digital age. Police Officer Camacho was scheduled to speak to our families but needed to re-schedule at the last minute. Steve spoke about Common Sense Media presenting a number of case studies on the topics of digital drama, distraction, multitasking and time management and digital devices at St. Brigid School. He also identified the website which provides information on reviews of media and age ratings, media resources for learning at different ages and answers to parental concerns. To many parents surprise, a popular app used my most middle school children had an age rating of 17 year old. This topic was extremely informative and eye opening to those in attendance.

Another topic of the meeting was suggestions for Summer Programming. There is great interest in a summer enrichment program apparent by the results of a poll at SBS. 68% of families expressed interest and excitement in such a program.

The meeting which was well attended, ended with an open forum where parents/guardians are encouraged to ask questions and offer suggestions.

The Family Association held a bake sale including refreshments during the meeting.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

First graders created and hung the first ornaments on our Christmas tree AND students who participate in the After School Program created beautiful, decorative snowflakes.
