OLVCS Updates
September 2, 2022
Dear OLV Parents and Friends,
We had another great week at Our Lady of Victory!
Preschool started this week and we are so glad to invite back our returning families and welcome our new families. The preschool has been painted and refurnished and it really feels like a bright new place, but it’s so much better with all of the smiling faces inside.
Walk-A-Thon collection materials came home earlier this week. I want to thank those who have already contributed and those that went above and beyond in their collections and contributions. I think we’re going to make a lot of great things happen for our students this year with your support, particularly in our extracurricular offerings like sports and the arts.
Middle School Coed Soccer games begin next and Girls Volleyball the following week. We would love to have your support at our games. Please see the full schedules for the teams here: https://www.olvcatholicschool.org/Page/3365. Go Crusaders!

Catechism of the Catholic Church, Paragraph 2428: In work, the person exercises and fulfills in part the potential inscribed in his nature. The primordial value of labor stems from man himself, its author and its beneficiary. Work is for man, not man for work. Everyone should be able to draw from work the means of providing for his life and that of his family, and of serving the human community.
The clock is ticking...

OLVCS Athletics Updates
Crusader Home Games Will Be Played At SJCA
OLVCS is partnering with Saint Joseph’s to host the Crusaders’ volleyball and soccer home games this fall. All home games for the girls' volleyball and coed soccer teams will be at the Saint Joseph’s field and gym.
Having games at SJCA allows the Crusader teams and fans to have better seating and important PIAA-required game equipment, such as a volleyball game referee stand, that OLVCS does not have.
Further, OLVCS volleyball games will be live-streamed on the NFHS Network, which is a great option for fans who can’t make it to the gym. To sign up for live-streaming, go to https://stjoeacad.org/athletics/
Games will begin soon. Check out the OLVCS online calendar for game dates and times.
Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy Updates
Irwin to Lead Girls Basketball at SJCA
The Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy Administration and Board of Trustees are very excited to announce the hiring of Bethany Irwin as Head Coach, Girls Basketball.
“I am extremely excited to join Saint Joe’s,” said Coach Irwin, “and can’t wait to get back in the gym!”
Coach Irwin has a strong reputation for coaching girls basketball at the high school level in Centre County.
Coach Irwin is already working with Mrs. Straub, the OLVCS Athletic Director, to set up open gym opportunities in the coming months for both OLVCS middle school and SJCA girls. More information about these will be forthcoming.
