FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Father Doyle Families,

Wishing you all a blessed Triduum and a happy and holy Easter! Remembering Easter last year, I am so grateful that we are able to be together this Holy Week. Throughout this Lent, our students have had an opportunity to engage with their faith in a myriad of ways including Mass, confession, Stations of the Cross, retreats, and of course the wonderful work that all of our teachers do each day bringing the faith to our students in Religion class. Know that you and your families will be in my prayers this Easter!

Please see the announcements below regarding the upcoming weeks:

FJVD Strong Auction Update

Thank you to everyone who has been donating gift cards and items to our 2021 FJVD Strong Auction. Please visit our online auction wish board here for a list of hte items still needed. More info about hte Auction, including this year's Auction Theme, will be announced early next week!

Thank You for a Great #NationalReadingMonth!

We had so much fun celebrating #NationalReadingMonth in March with Reading Week, the Read-a-thon, and of course our weekly Wednesday Night readings. It was wonderful to see so many families at the weekly readings! Thank you so much for your support, as well as to our faculty and staff for putting together a stellar Reading Week!

I am also thrilled and grateful to announce that we have surpassed our Read-a-thon goal of $4,000! We are so thankful to all of you! A reminder that this year's funds will go in part to purchasing new and additional reading and language arts instructional materials. Last year, through a generous donation from Navigant Credit Union, we were able to purchase new reading supplies for our K-2 students. This year, we're looking to review and enhance reading instructional materials for grades three and up! Donations will continue to be excepted through April 11th. Thank you!

Paint Night - April 9th

A reminder that Paint Night is this Friday, April 9th! Materials and the appropriate Zoom link will be sent home next week. The evening begins at 6:30pm. See you then!

Lastly, a reminder that Monday, April 5th is a full day of school and Monday, April 12th is a 1:30pm Early Dismissal Day in accordance with our Academic Calendar.

Wishing you all the very best!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin

Current RIDOH Quarantine Guidance (Non-Travel)

On December 10, 2020, the Rhode Island Department of Health released new Quarantine Guidance for confirmed close contacts of a positive case. A detailed summary of this guidance can be found here.

Generally, the guidance allows for:

  • 14 Day Quarantine for Immunocompromised and/or Long-Term Care Staff
  • 10 Day Quarantine for General Public (while continuing to monitor for symptoms)
  • 7 Day Quarantine with Negative Test at least 5 Days After Last Exposure

A reminder that the Department of Health is the only organization that can mandate a person quarantine. The school will continue to address necessary hybrid learning scenarios on a case by case basis in consultation with the Department of Health.

Hybrid Learning & Distance Learning Policies

As shared with families via email we have updated our Hybrid Learning and Distance Learning Policies and Procedures. You can find those changes outlined in the documents attached below, as well as linked here:

Distance Learning Opt-In Dates

In addition, you can view a brief video summary of the updates here. We hope these changes will help make hybrid and distance learning increasingly manageable and effective for staff, students, and families alike!

Probable Cases & Testing Procedures

The Department of Health has released additional resources for families regarding how to proceed if your child has symptoms at home or becomes ill at school. You can find the RIDOH Resources for Families here. Please note, if your child is experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 that indicate a probable case, please call 844-857-1814 from 7:30am-9:30pm seven days a week to schedule a test through the K-12 Testing Network. You should also notify the school as soon as possible.

If your child is experiencing symptoms and is being tested, two tests will be conducted at the K-12 testing site - a rapid test with results within 24 hours, and a PCR test with results within 48 hours. Please note, students are not permitted to return to school until both tests are negative and symptoms have resolved. In addition, families must complete the After Illness Return Attestation Form which can also be found on the homepage of our school website under "Important Links."

A reminder that our hybrid learning policies for students absent due to illness or quarantine can be found in our Hybrid Learning Guide for Students and Families as well as in a quick reference guide here.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence

How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.

Bottle Cap Drive

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.

Thank you!
