Students will receive their results in the next month or so. When students get these results it will be linked in with a score practice amount to Khan Academy. Khan Academy is used in many of our classes. This is a great resource for parents and students!
Vaping and E-Cigarette Info
A dangerous trend with students is the usage of vape pens/ e-cigarettes. As parents, it can be very difficult to detect and prevent this type of issue.
Embedded below is a great resource regarding Vaping and the use of E-Cigarettes, and Marijuana Wax pens. Please call the counseling office for more information!
Social Media Safety
Below this message are two links. The first include tips to help monitor kids usage of social media. Below is a description for what some of these site are. As parents, it is hard for us to monitor these issues sometimes because we don't know what the sites are ourselves. The PHMS Counseling Department does provide lessons in healthy relationships. If we can be of individual assistance, please let us know 734-362-6100.
Early Pick Up and Busing information
- If picking a student up early during the school day please make sure to come into the main office. We will ask to view identification to ensure that the person picking up is listed on the emergency card. We can not release any student who is not listed on the emergency card.
- If your student wants to ride the bus home to someone's home we require a note for the bus driver from both sets of parents giving permission to do so. Both students need to present these notes to the main office for approval and signature. The students then will give these letters to the bus driver.
Should you have any questions regarding these procedures please call the main office.
District Communication information- NIXLE
The Woodhaven-Brownstown School District wants you and your children to be safe and informed during emergencies in our area, both during and after school. These may include school closings, public safety threats, and community advisories. Information is key, and we strongly encourage you to sign up to receive text message alerts directly from the school district. Registering for alerts is easy — simply text WBSD to 888777 and you’ll be informed and instructed when necessary. TEXT WBSD TO 888777 TO SIGN UP FOR ALERTS
ALICE School Safety Update
- All staff and students have been trained in the ALICE protocols.
- With the cooperation and assistance of the Woodhaven Police Department, we have conducted four enhanced lockdown drills. These drills have included barricading procedures for classroom doors.
As we work with our community partners to continue practicing and training school safety drills we will provide regular updates to parents and community members. We do have several more drills planned for the school year including an evacuation drill. Should you have any questions regarding ALICE training please contact the main office.
Cellular Phone Policy
Parents- Please review this policy regarding cellular phones with your children.
Our school community is very fortunate to have access to many types of technology. This includes chromebooks, desktop computers, and tablets. Electronic Communications Devices, including: cellular phones, pagers, personal laptops, ipads, ipods, or any other type may not be permitted in any instructional area during the school day. An instructional area includes: ALL classrooms, offices (including main office and counseling), gym areas (including locker rooms), and large group instructional areas. These devices should be securely stored in your locker during all class times. If a device is seen or heard in any of these settings students may receive a consequence up to and including after-school detentions per infraction.
A phone is available for student usage during class time with a pass from a teacher. This is located in the counseling office and should be used for contact with a parent/guardian for urgent matters only. Parents/Guardians may contact the main office to get a message to their child during the school day. At no time will the office staff be responsible for searching for lost or misplaced Electronic Communications Devices. If a student chooses to bring one of these devices to school, it is at their parent’s discretion.
