CONGRATULATIONS!
Emma Ross has been selected to participate in the High School Diplomats Program this summer. HSD is a ten-day program hosted at Princeton University allowing American students to live and interact with Japanese students. 40 students from both countries meet and learn about each other's country, culture, and life.
The following students have been selected as recipients of NSLI-Y Scholarships to study abroad:
Natalia Kulczycki - summer program for Russian - Narva, Estonia
Matira Woolf - summer program for Korean - Seoul, Korea
Noell Evans - school year program for Korean - Seoul, Korea
The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, provides merit-based scholarships for eligible high school students and recent high school graduates to learn less commonly taught languages in summer and academic-year overseas immersion programs.
Nominations for the 2017-18 CISL Student Committee are OPEN!
Please nominate below any student (including yourself) who you feel would be an active supporter of the mission of the CISL Student Committee.
Nominations will close May 15. Elections will be at the May 18th CISL General Meeting.

Consideration forms for CISL scholarships are now available on the CISL webpage or outside the CISL office. They are also attached here. Forms are due to Mrs. Campagna no later than May 1st.

Save the Date: Muslim Students Assoc. International Night will be here at Hylton on the evening of April 27th. Tickets will be $5 at the door.
Youth For Understanding is now seeking host families for Swiss exchange students who will be studying in Virginia for the 2017-2018 school year. The students will be studying in Virginia as part of a public diplomacy initiative facilitated by the government of Switzerland and will be from the “Canton of Vaud,” a French-speaking state. Students and host families will have a YFU Area Representative and will have Orientations throughout the year to support the exchange experience. CISL Booster Officer Elections will take place at the May 1st meeting
Nominations are being accepted for all positions. Please feel free to nominate yourself or someone else. When nominating someone else, please be sure to contact them first to ensure they are willing to hold the position. If you have any questions regarding the positions, feel free to contact Booster President, Moira Folsom at moira.folsom@verizon.net.
All nominations should be sent to Boosters Vice President Steve Graham (sdg1972@gmail.com).
President - Facilitate booster meetings, acct as booster-liaison to CISL Coordinator, organize booster volunteers for CISL-sponsored events.
Vice President - Coordinate activities of subcommittees for Membership, Spirit Wear, Fundraising and Scholarship
Treasurer-elect - Handle all financial activities related to CISL Boosters including fundraising events, membership fees, event registration, invoice payment and reconciliation of accounts. This is a minimum two-year commitment. The treasure-elect will shadow the current treasurer (Cari Bohley) for the 2017-18 school year and will take over as Treasurer for the 2018-2019 school year.
Secretary - Responsible for documenting and distributing meeting minutes.
Membership Subcommittee Chairperson - Promote CISL Booster membership and maintain member contact information.
Spirit Wear Subcommittee Chairperson - Coordinate all activities related to design, purchase and sale of spirit wear items (tshirts, sweatshirts, etc.)
Fundraising Subcommittee Chairperson - Coordinate all activities related to fund raising activities including selection, schedule, communication, ordering and delivery.
Sophomore Parent Representatives (2-3)
Junior Parent Representatives (2-3)
Senior Parent Representatives (2-3)
Freshman Parent Representatives and Scholarship Committee Chair and members will be elected at the beginning of the 2017-18 school year.
