Students and Staff of the Month
This year the Leadership class has decided to change how student and staff awards are given. This will be done twice a month, with 1 boy and 1 girl winning from each grade level. One week we will have girl winners and one week we will have boy winners. The leadership class was able to get some Gift Card donations from local businesses to add to the award gift package. Teachers are also asked to be more thoughtful and provide the why with their nomination. When teachers nominate students they are looking for the following:
Integrity
Responsibility
Respect
Effort
5th Grade- Nora Malone
6th Grade- Carlen Eames
7th Grade- Kay Heien
Connecting with the Counselor
5th Grade
We finished our book "The Invisible Boy" this week! It's such a great story with very real-life, applicable lessons for students to consider as they find themselves in situations in the classroom, playground, sports teams, home, etc. We talked a lot about how it's really easy to SAY the right thing to do, but when it comes to actually DOING it, it takes courage. My challenge to them was to think about ways that they can be a difference-maker!
Questions to ask your student...
1. What was one of the situations that the characters found themselves in from the book?
2. What does empathy mean?
6th, 7th, 8th Grade
This week in Advisory, students wrote Thank You Notes that will be delivered to the VA in Topeka. There were some really heart-felt notes. We were so proud of the kids for taking the time to put some thought into creating these meaningful notes.
Thanksgiving Pies! -- WE STILL NEED SOME!
We will celebrate Thanksgiving with our School Families again this year! We are asking for donations for store bought pies to eat with our families. We will also need plates and forks. The slots below are organized by School Family. If you know whose school family your student is in, feel free to sign up to bring pies for that family. Or, you can sign up for any family.
