St Columba's Code of Conduct
This week we look at Statement 3 in the Code of Conduct which is an integral part of our school culture.
‘You act in accordance with the values of the Gospel as defined in the Code of Ethical Conduct.’
This statement reminds us that our choices and behaviours are opportunities for students and others to see Gospel values in action, how our faith is interwoven in life experiences.
Here are some examples, of how this statement is evident in practical ways in our school community:
- when staff differentiate to meet the needs of individual students. This recognises the dignity and giftedness of each child and builds the path for positive relationships,
- when students include others in their play, respect the school’s resources and when students use their gifts and talents,
- when parents communicate with staff in a respectful way.
Strategic Plan 2019 - 2022
As our School grows, we want to preserve our core values.
Have your say in the future growth of our school.
A school survey will be distributed to families, school staff and senior students to gather information that will be used to develop the Strategic Plan for the next 3 years.
Survey coming out soon!

Aiden L from Year 1B is the Artist of the Week. Aiden was chosen to be Artist of the Week because of his amazing Britto inspired cat artwork. Aiden’s favourite thing about art is drawing. He loves drawing dinosaurs because he thinks they are cool. He also likes clay because he mixes the colours and makes three dimensional shapes. He likes making balls out of clay for his brother to practice catching. To make his cat artwork Aiden used permanent marker, oil pastels, pencil and watercolours. Waste Wise News - Recycling Target
Our next recycling target is toothbrushes and other oral care products.
North America Wastes Over 1 Billion Toothbrushes! No, your eyes aren’t playing any tricks on you because the title is accurate according to Foreo. That many toothbrushes end up in landfill and are enough to stretch around the earth 4 times. And this is just North America; imagine how many other countries are discarding – the impact would be catastrophic. The clean-up costs just from that are beyond conceivable.
What you can recycle in this program.
- toothpaste tubes and caps
- toothbrushes
- toothbrush and toothpaste tube outer packaging
- floss containers
In order to recycle this waste stream properly, please make sure all excess product has been removed (i.e. leftover toothpaste or floss).
Please note: electronic toothbrushes and electronic toothbrush parts are not recyclable through this program. In order to recycle this waste stream properly, please make sure all excess product has been removed (i.e. leftover toothpaste or floss).
See your classroom for collection boxes.
Please consider Bamboo toothbrush alternatives and toothpaste in reusable tins/jars.

Parish News from Monsignor
I have returned from my two months long-service leave. I was Chaplin on a cruise ship which left Fremantle on January 6 and sailed up the WA coast to Geraldton, Exmouth, Broome and Kuri Bay in the Kimberley. There were 20 to 30 at daily Mass and triple that number on Sunday. The second cruise from Singapore saw the arrival of an English and American priest who were travelling as passengers, who joined me to concelebrate Mass each day. I thank Fr Manoel for administering the Parish whilst I was away and the supply priests who assisted him.
I am looking forward to the Sacramental Commitment Mass this Saturday at 6pm. I will be praying for the children preparing for the Sacraments and for their families. I remember receiving these Sacraments myself as though it was yesterday! Please make time for family prayer to assist the Sacramental candidates.
Lent is a time for increased prayer and Penance. On the Fridays of Lent, the Stations of the Cross will be prayed at 5pm in the Church. The time for Reconciliation will revert to Saturdays at 11.30am.
Sunday Masses at St Columba’s Church are Saturday Vigil at 6pm and Sundays at 7.30pm and 9.3oam.
May God bless you all.
