Remote Learning 11/30-12/4
The B.Y.E. Buzz
Principal Corner
Due to staff quarantines and sub shortages, the district has announced that November 30- December 4 will be remote learning days. This will be different from what we have experienced in the past. Each student has a device at home for learning. Each day, teachers will offer two options for live Zoom sessions. Students will be expected to join one of these sessions each day. They will also be expected to complete remote lessons that will be loaded into Seesaw/Google Classroom. Students have practiced using their LMS systems at school and should be able to navigate. It would be helpful if someone can monitor as students are using their devices.
These are going to be rigorous school days. Students will need to have a plan to be up and ready for their day as well as find a quiet place to work with their devices and needed supplies (paper/pencil). Students that are on the blended learning plan will now follow the remote learning plan 5 days a week. Teachers will send more information home on Monday, November 30. We plan to have the live Zoom sessions at the following times:
Kindergarten/1st Grade Zoom choices are 8:30 or 12:30.
2nd/3rd Grade Zoom choices are 9:00 or 1:00.
4th/5th Grade Zoom choices are 9:30 or 1:30.
Most students have their device at home. If your child does not, technology can be picked up on Monday, November 30 between 10:30-2:30 at the BYE office or by calling to make special arrangements. If you do not have the internet at home, please send an email to me (cnorwood@sdale.org) or reach out to the classroom teacher so we can discuss options for providing internet.
Devices are used for school purposes only. Students may use their device for the remote learning assignments and/or Lexia and ST Math. When not using the device for schoolwork, students need to store them in a safe place and be prepared to bring them back when students return.
Food services will provide pick-up meals on Mondays and Thursdays. Meal kits will contain three meals and will be free to all Springdale students. Pre-order meals at go.sdale.org/food.
School buildings are not closed. The Pre-K and CBI classrooms will remain open and run on a regular schedule. Also, some students will be invited for targeted intervention sessions if parents can bring them. These sessions will not be required but will be suggested for specific students to meet their needs.
We know this might be a challenge for many of our families but be assured this is difficult for us as well. We can't wait for COVID to end and we can return to "normal" school. If we all work together, we can have a successful week of remote teaching and learning. As always, reach out to your child's teacher if you are having problems with the lessons or need further assistance through email.
