Dancing Through December
Last week we officially finished our Elks canned food drive and it's time to announce the winners... big congratulations to Mrs. Portinga's class and Mr. Wear's class! Both classes will receive their pizza parties on Tuesday at lunch.
We also had a fun Family Movie Night on Friday! Huge shout out to moms Emily, Janamarie and Martha from our Booster Club for setting this up. Also, thank you to the team of dads who jumped in to help with sound troubleshooting! It was fun to gather as a community and enjoy a movie.
This Thursday and Friday we have two more opportunities to join together at the Wizard of Oz play put on by our very own Patterson students! Here are a few upcoming events:
- December 9th our Math Olympiads are at a tournament in Molalla.
- December 15th is a Spirit Day- all students and staff are invited to wear Pajamas to school.
Wishing you a warm week!

TREX Recycling Challenge
Last year the district collected over 7,000 pounds of plastic, WOW! For the second year, all Hillsboro schools & support buildings are participating in the TREX Film Plastic Recycling Challenge, which runs through April 22, 2018.
Students, staff, family, and friends are invited to bring in plastic bags and plastic wrap to our bin in the main hall. Each bag collected will be weighed and recorded monthly until the competition’s end. After the materials are turned in, TREX will transform them into composite lumber, saving the plastic from adding to the landfill or clogging up sorting machines at the recycling center.
The winning schools/site—which will be announced on Earth Day, April 22, 2018—will receive a TREX bench.
What can be recycled?
Grocery bags
Bread bags
Case overwrap
Dry cleaning bags
Newspaper sleeves
Ice bags
Wood pellet bags
Ziploc and other closable bags
Produce bags
Bubble wrap
Salt bags
Cereal bags
All plastic must be clean, dry, and mostly free of food residue.
