Need to Know More About Math?
We encourage families to use this website with your child to help break down math lessons with step by step guidance.
Having Fun with STEM based learning!
STEM is an acronym for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and it is becoming an increasingly important interdisciplinary field in education as many present day careers as well as anticipated jobs of the future will require such skills.
Third and fourth grade students at Pleasant Street and Riverbend had a nice STEM oriented experience having recently completed a 10 week Mad Science afterschool program that was funded through Title One. We had more students interested in this program than available spots at Pleasant Street so a second program, Monday Science, was made available for additional students who wanted to participate. What this shows us is that students love to learn about science and technology through hands-on activities and experiments as well as through reading non-fiction. We have listed below some websites that you may want to explore with your child. If you try a fun science or technology activity with your child and want to share it with our school community please feel free to send a picture and information Elementary-news@arrsd.org and we will be sure to share it in our February newsletter.

We Have Winter Wear & Coats for Those in Need
If your child is in financial need of a coat, hat, or mittens please contact Rachel Schwab, Guidance Counselor at Pleasant Street School and the Royalston Community School or Linda Jaskoviak, Guidance Counselor for Riverbend/ Sanders Street Schools, to let us know your child's first and last name, the size coat that your child needs, and whether your child also needs a hat and mittens. You could also write a note in your child's school Agenda Book, or Homework folder, and your child's teacher will give the note to the guidance counselor.
Celebrate Schools in the Athol Royalston Regional School District
We encourage you to check out the Celebrate Schools Athol Royalston Facebook site! This is a great place to connect with events and activities happening throughout our school district. You do not have to be on Facebook to access this site. If you are on Facebook please "like" what you see or better yet hit the share button so that we can spread the word on the many positive developments within our schools. We very much want to extend our gratitude to Mitchell Grosky, for developing and maintaining this site, for adding and soliciting content, and for his unwavering dedication and commitment to our schools and greater community.
