Bear Pride: Respect, Responsibility, Be Safe, Do Your Best

November 6, 2020

No School on Monday, November 9th

Monday, November 9th is a Teacher Workday. There is no school for students.

Weather Turning Colder

The weather will turn colder next week. Please make sure your child is dressed for colder temps.

Picture Retake Day

Wednesday, Nov. 11th is Picture Retake Day in case your child was absent and missed Picture Day. We have picture packets available in the office, and we can send them home with your child at your request.

Covid Information

Covid has found its way to Bridgewater, and yet I feel fortunate that we have made it this long without a case. We sent two classrooms and students from one bus home to quarantine this week due to the students being close contacts. These students and teachers need to quarantine for 14 days unless they develop symptoms; in this case they would need to remain home an additional 10 days from the day symptoms begin. While in quarantine, students and staff should not be out and about in the community since they have the potential of becoming Covid positive.

Moving forward, please let us know right away if your child should test positive for Covid. This includes sending an email during the weekend or evening hours. You are welcome to send the email directly to me, and I will take it from there. Please know that your child's name will remain confidential. This is not a blame or shame situation; we just want to keep everyone as safe as possible.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

Penny Hillemann, Executive Director of Rice County Area United Way, recently shared that there are 900 Rice County children signed up for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - FANTASTIC! She wants our help to sign up 100 more children - for a total of 1,000! - before Thanksgiving. I think we can do it!

Attached are brochures, and families can find more information from this website: Sign up for Imagination Library!

This amazing program gets free books into the hands of Rice County's youngest learners - mailed right to their home. Once a child is signed up, it takes about 6 weeks to 2 months to receive the first book, but then they come once per month until the child's 5th birthday.

Thanks so much for your help to spread the word about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library!

Registration forms are attached below.

Kindergarten Reading Buddies

The Kindergarten Team assigned covid-proof Reading Buddies this week. Each student received their very own puppy to name, read with and care for in the evenings! Students also received adoption papers along with a book and blanket for the puppy. Such a cute project for our students who are missing the many other field trips and activities that normally happen.

Resources from Phy Ed

Below are a couple of resources that you might find helpful for your child or your family.

Covid Testing Sites

Below is some information on local Covid testing sites just in case...

Winter Wear

It is that time of year again to bring out the warm winter wear. It is essential that students wear warm clothing with the colder temps in this early surprise winter. Please make sure to label outwear just in case they get lost. A winter jacket, hat, mittens/gloves, boots, and snow pants are needed for each student.
