School Dismissal Manager--Register
If you have not set up your SDM account, the time to do so is now. Carline moves quicker when parents check into carline rather than waiting for a staff member to sign them in. I have an article below to assist you with setting up your account. For elementary carline parents, please sign in at the middle of the parking lot. For JH carline parents, please sign in at the side gate on your right. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. If you need help with SDM, contact Mrs. Kim Lucas at klucas@responsiveedtx.com or 936-242-1541.
Doctor’s Note after an Absence for Illness
If your child is out due to an illness that extends beyond three days will require a doctor’s note. Upon return to school, a student absent for more than three consecutive days because of a personal illness must bring a statement from a doctor or health clinic verifying the illness or condition that caused the student’s extended absence from school. Otherwise, the student’s absence may be considered unexcused and if so, would be in violation of compulsory attendance laws.

School Dismissal Manager--Update
We are now utilizing SDM for our school dismissal and office management needs. A few logistical items have come to our attention that I would like to discuss in this post:
- I can't find the SDM App: Many parents are looking for the SDM app in Google Play or Apple Store. You have to download the app from schooldismissalmanager.com. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the front office.
- When Do I Check into SDM: Beginning at 3:25 pm parents can begin logging in to SDM. You will get a blue parent self-check-in button within your accounts to select and check in from. Elementary Check-In: Parents should check-in when they arrive at the walkway area of the parking lot. This is the pathway that leads to the elementary building or the gated entrance to the back of the Junior High Building. This is where we block off the parking lot for PE. This will reduce the amount of time your scholar has to wait to be picked up. JH Check-in: Parents should check-in when they arrive at the fence gate located on the right side of the building upon entering the circle drive.
- Do I have to use SDM to Pick Up my Child: Yes! In order to keep our carline moving efficiently, it is imperative that ALL parents utilize the SDM system.
- How Does SDM Work for Pick Up: When you check-in to the system, your child's teacher receives an alert that it is time for them to be dismissed. Your child's teacher can dismiss the child or give an alert that they will be delayed (restroom, accident, etc.). The check-in admin in the parking lot receives the alert for check-in and the status of your scholar. Once your child is outside, they are directed to the cone.
- Will we receive new car signs: Yes, you will be receiving new car signs. In order to complete receive all necessary car signs as efficiently as possible, ALL Parents need to sign in and set up their SDM System by Tuesday Morning. We print signs on Tuesday morning for distribution to scholars. ALL DESIGNATED Persons (parents, grandparents, guardians, carpool, aunts, uncles, siblings, friends, etc.) must have a designated tag for your scholar. This is to ensure that you have given this person the right to pick up your child. We want to ensure safety and security on our campus. For additional support, please see the SDM Car Line Dismissal PDF attached below.
- What else can I do with SDM: You can notify the campus that you are arriving after 8:00 am (Late-Arrival), Change to Dismissal Transportation (from daycare to carline), reporting absences, and check out your child early (Early Check-Out, Not Returning to Campus). These are items that you traditionally would have to call the office to change. SDM allows you to make the changes from the website or app and the office will get an instant notification.
- I don't have my credentials: Parent credentials were sent out on Sunday, August 29, 2021. If you did not receive your credentials, please email Mrs. Lucas at klucas@responsiveedtx.com or give us a call at 936-242-1541. You can call us over the weekend and leave a message and we will get you set up on Monday morning.
- I need additional help: Below I have attached a Parent Quick Reference Guide. Also, remember to reference the Frequently Asked Questions (Parent FAQ) link next to the login area on the website for quick answers to your questions. To view this guide any time, click on Quick Start Guide in your app menu, or if you would prefer to view a video, click on Quick Start Video in your app menu. If you cannot find the answer to your questions in SDM's documentation or videos, click on Get Help in the app menu to send an email directly to the school office staff.
Sincerely,
Roxana Butler.

October Character Virtue--Integrity
Integrity
With integrity, you have nothing to fear, since you have nothing to hide. With integrity, you will do the right thing, so you will have no guilt. − Zig Ziglar
Definition: Is doing the right thing, even if nobody is watching.
Noun: integrity
The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness. “he is know to be a man of integrity”
The state of being whole and undivided. “upholding territorial integrity and national sovereignty”
The condition of being unified, unimpaired, or sound in construction. “the structural integrity of the novel”
Internal consistency or lack of corruption in electronic data. “integrity checking”
Origins of Integrity
Late Middle English (sense 2): from French intégrité or Latin integritas, from integer ‘intact’ (see integer). Compare with entirety, integral, and integrate.
3 reasons why integrity is important
Reason #1:
Living, working, and leading in integrity means that we don’t question ourselves. When we listen to our hearts and do the right thing, life becomes simple, and we live in peace. Our actions are now open for everyone to see, and we don’t have to worry about hiding anything.
Reason #2:
When we operate from integrity, we gain the trust of other people, especially those we work with closely. This is crucial especially for those in positions of leadership. Others see you as dependable and accountable for your actions. Trust develops, people feel safe in your presence, and you gain influence.
Reason #3:
We become role models, whether we like it or not. Why? Because integrity is a hallmark of ethical leadership – companies, clients, co-workers, stakeholders, churches, schools, communities, and families want leaders that they can trust, and when you demonstrate integrity, you show everyone you can be trusted and respected.
What's your experience here? How has your integrity or character been tested to the limit? What did you do in response?
− Marcel Schwantes
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Understanding the Habit
Begin With the End In Mind means to think about how you would like something to turn out before getting started. Someone who thinks with the end in mind says, "I plan ahead and set goals. I do things that have meaning and make a difference; I am an important part of my classroom. I can make a difference and contribute to the vision and goals of my school and in my classroom. I look for ways to be a good citizen.
Future Skills that can be learned by beginning with the end in mind:
Use critical thinking to organize information
Develop the intrapersonal skills of self-confidence and self-management
Use creative thinking to solve problems
Develop the ability to set goals and follow-through
Develop strong oral and written communication skills
