Good afternoon everyone,

Another busy week here at Bernie’s! We celebrated the start of Lent with pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and our whole school mass on Ash Wednesday. In class our students have been learning about the significance of the Lenten period and how they can build their relationship with God through prayer and committing to small sacrifices for the good of others.

Our Bernie’s Cricket Team went off to the Interschool Carnival on Thursday and we were again very proud of how our students represented the school!

We are excited about our upcoming Swimming Trials and Faction Carnival in Week 7.

This year we are using a new online registration platform called ‘Sports Tracker’. Instructions and log in details have been provided this week. If you are experiencing any troubles logging in, please email Mrs Bowe and Mrs Watson via admin@stbernadettes.edu.au

This week Mrs Nila Lemisio Poasa and her son Aki laid their much-loved husband and father Himona to rest. Nila and her family have been surrounded by love and support from her extended family and friends in and around New Zealand and over Australia, who, with our own St Bernadette’s family have brought Nila much comfort, through heartfelt messages of support, and as is customary, through the sharing of food, music, prayer and stories.

The past few weeks have understandably been filled with many tears but also smiles, as special memories have been recalled and shared. The outreach from Nila’s family, friends, and our amazing school community, has played such a special and important role in helping Nila, Aki and their extended family to know that they are not alone and very much cared about. Thank you again for your kindness and empathy.

I hope you all have a great weekend. I will be skippering for a Rotto Swim Solo entrant tomorrow so looking forward to spending some time on the water.

Take care everyone.

Well done to both of our teams, we are so proud of your achievements!

Parish Call for help!

Reaching out to our amazing school community for volunteers.

Our church is in need of parents/grandparents/staff willing to volunteer approx 1-1.5hrs every 5-6 weeks to clean the church (dusting, vacuuming, surface cleaning etc). Ideally groups of 2-4 people make up a team and cleans are generally undertaken Fridays after 9:30am or an hour or so before school pick up. There is flexibility for other weekday mornings, afternoons, evenings or weekends. If you are able to offer a hand (or able to get a team together), please email our Parish office on port.kennedy@perthcatholic.org.au
