The Weekly Howl
St. Francis Catholic School - Saturday, October 26th
Dear Parents & Friends of SFCS,
Please note that we will be going to mass on Wednesday and Friday. Children need to be dressed in his or her mass uniform for both days.
The Halloween Parade and the FSA Trunk and Treat will begin at 1:30pm on Thursday. In the October 13th edition of the Howl I described the costume guidelines for students. In keeping with our safe environment guidelines it is important for the students in our classes to stay together during the parade. Parents are welcome to walk with the class but cannot separate their child(ren) from the class. We have many participants with the Trunk and Treat this year so if you are handing out candy it is important to keep the classes moving. So please do not stop or stall individual or groups of students. There will be many opportunities for pictures at the beginning or end of the parade. Students will need to stay with their class and return to their classroom after the parade. If you are taking your child home before the regular dismissal procedure then please let your child's teacher know. We will need all trunk or treat participants that are located in areas of the regular dismissal traffic to have their area cleaned up and car moved by 2:45pm. Thank you to everyone who signed up to participate!!!
This week your student may have come home with a Box of Joy. We will be trying to donate all of our 250 boxes this year for this very worthy program. Last year we packed 180 boxes so let's try to get all our boxes packed.
Please note that report cards and fall MAP results will be coming home in an envelope with your child on Tuesday. Also on Tuesday Ms. McGlynn will send an email about Parent - Teacher Conferences that will occur on Wednesday, November 6th - Friday, November 8th. It is important that our students be active participants in their learning and progress. We ask that children in grades 3 and above be present for their conference.
I am amazed with the amount of bottle caps for the Palmetto Ocean Conservancy Bottle Cap Mural Project that have been collected! We are doing an awesome job SFCS!!! Remember that the first month of collection ends on Thursday and the class that has collected the most this month will have either a pizza party or ice party of their choosing. Happy counting!!!
Have a great remainder to your weekend!!!
Sincerely in Christ,
Brian Pope

Box of Joy
Your child might have come home this week with a Box of Joy. Beta Club students from 8th grade went to your child's classroom to talk about this service project they do every year. We partner with Cross Catholic Outreach for it, and it's simple but meaningful for our students.
Each student will have the opportunity to pack a box the size of a shoe box with toys, school supplies, clothing, and other age-appropriate items. The boxes will be collected by Cross Catholic Outreach and shipped to priests and nuns who work in developing countries. They give the boxes as Christmas gifts to the children with whom they minister.
Our students love sharing these gifts with children in need, and it's a great, tangible way for us to share the love of Jesus with poor children.
More information will accompany the box your child receives, and you can also find out more at the Cross Catholic Outreach website below.
