Middleton Memo

Vol. 26 Week of 3/11/19 Mark AM

Big picture

Hey Everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Starstruck starts this week! All staff are invited to participate in the staff dance. Practices are every Tuesday at 7:30am on the stage. The more the merrier! Dancing is definitely not my thing, so if I can do it, you can do it. At the very least, you'll enjoy watching me screw up on show night (it's tradition).

We have leadership on Tuesday at 3:00. We will be discussing how to pump our kids up for the SBAC. We are open to all ideas.

At our first meeting together, I told you how the negativity of this job can really wear on you. Last week was one of the harder weeks (maybe the hardest) for me so far. With that, it is even more important to shine a light on some of the many positive things happening. Here are a couple from just last week; shout out to Nick for helping a student out after her lunch was destroyed by another student, Angie C. who had a student on the brink of SPED testing grow multiple grade levels on her i-Ready diagnostic, the 5th grade team for their willingness to work together in a difficult situation, Kristin S. for all of her effort on the Starstruck practice schedule, Vanessa G. for her honesty, Ellie for picking up the pieces when we are short handed, Tim Murphy and his staff for his flexibility to do what is best for a student, Karen V. for all of the hugs she gave to the students not even in her class, Leah and the 2nd grade team for trying to create a smooth transition for students and parents, Melissa M. and Cindy S. for trusting me to make difficult decisions, Cindy H. for getting things done before I even realize they needed to be done, Kathleen for her endless compassion for students, Karen R. who remains smiling after dealing with difficult parents, Christi J. for showing parents how much she cares for her students, and Cheryl W. for just asking how she could help. Those were just a few, but there are so many more. Thank you for working hard to make our school a great place to be.

I'm looking forward to a much better week.

Just a friendly reminder from Andy that the sinks in your classrooms can only be used with soap and water! There have been some sinks blocked recently with glue.

Happy Birthday to ....
