October 4-8th

A Message from Kathleen

It was wonderful to "see" everyone this week for parent teacher conferences via Zoom. We are quickly approaching the end of first quarter and conferences were a great time for us to celebrate strengths of our students and work on goal setting for the upcoming weeks. Our building will be working on procedures this week specifically around the lunchroom and recess. Enjoy the long weekend!

Thank you!

A big thank you to our PTO and parent community who provided breakfast and dinner for our staff during conferences this week. We are so thankful for your support and yummy treats during long days!

Fall Harvest Party

Lakewood Elementary Fall Harvest Party & Parade Information

Costumes: Students are invited to wear basic costumes to school on Friday, October 29th. Families should work with their students to select costumes that are comfortable for the entire school day as we will NOT be changing into different clothing/costume attire. Please be advised that students may not wear costumes that contain any type of a weapon (real or play) or costumes that are not elementary school appropriate. In addition, we ask that students do not wear face make-up or face disguises as it will interfere with face masks and safety practices. Students will need to wear acceptable masks and face coverings for COVID, just as any other school day.

Fall Classroom Parties: Parent volunteers will not be allowed in the building for any fall parties as we work to minimize visitors and reduce the number of individuals in the building. Classroom teachers will work with room parents to help coordinate and provide items for classroom parties. Grade level teachers will share with room parents a craft/activity along with the items needed.

*Future classroom party plans will be revisited to review COVID activity and/or elementary student vaccination status.

Parade We look forward to hosting an outdoor costume parade on Friday, October 29th at 9:30am. Family members are invited to spread out around the perimeter of the track on the back field behind the school, if interested in attending. The parade will start promptly at 9:30am so plan accordingly to arrive in time to park and walk to the back field. Each class will parade out the back doors and around the track one time before re-entering the building. The parade will start with kindergarten and end with fifth grade. All students will participate in fall parties during the classroom day with their classroom teacher. Parent volunteers will not be allowed in the building for fall parties as we continue to minimize visitors during the school day and reduce the number of individuals in the building. Please note: If inclement weather occurs, the parade will not be rescheduled.
