A Message from Dr. Jacobs
Hello Indian Trail Families,
I absolutely love this time of year! It's hard to believe Thanksgiving is only two weeks away! We have many exciting things happening here at ITMS this month. Fall picture make-ups and winter sports pictures will be this Monday the 7th. Remember, there is no school on Tuesday the 8th due to parent teacher conferences and the election. Also, next week we will kick off our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. It will run November 7th through November 18th. Donations can be placed in barrels located in the front lobby. Don't' forget to order your ITMS Swag! Details about our Indian Trail Spirit Wear Store are below. Online ordering closes November 20th. I have more exciting news! The Spelling Bee will be starting soon! How exciting is that! We haven’t had one of these in a few years and are thrilled to be starting it back up again. More details about our upcoming Spelling Bee will be announced soon. Thanksgiving Break will be November 23rd through November 25th. Then, we are off to December which will be packed full of fun things for our students before we head off for Christmas Break. Wow! This first semester sure has flown by!
Have a fantastic Thanksgiving everyone!

Johnson City Schools Launches STOPit App
Johnson City Schools has enrolled with STOPit, the leading technology platform for schools that deters and controls harmful or inappropriate conduct. STOPit empowers students with an easy app to safely and anonymously report anything of concern to school officials – from cyberbullying to threats of violence or self-harm. STOPit empowers students to stand up for themselves and others while giving our schools the insight we need to keep students safe. Students can download the App from the Apple Store or Google play store on their mobile device and then search for their Johnson City School. While the reports are anonymous, there will be severe consequences for anyone who is found to have made a false report.
“We are excited to be able to provide this additional resource for our students,” Johnson City Schools Supervisor of Safety and Mental Health Greg Wallace said. “This will be another means of support for our students, especially those who are facing mental health issues. This will provide them with a 24/7 resource with a live person. This is just another measure we are taking to help our students and ensure our families that we take all threats and mental health issues seriously.”
With STOPit, students can submit anonymous reports containing text, photos, or video. Administrators are then able to manage incidents in a backend management system called STOPit Admin. STOPit Admin provides efficient and powerful investigative tools to our staff, including the ability to message with the reporter, which will allow us to address issues instantly.
STOPit does more than just help schools address incidents and mitigate risk. STOPit will also help us go beyond reacting to bullying and inappropriate behavior, and instead start deterring it. As young people continue to engage more with technology every day, we are taking a proactive step to empower our students to become upstanders in our community in the way that they feel most comfortable. We believe our adoption of STOPit is an important step in our continued effort to provide a positive school climate and a safe learning environment for our students.
