Principal Post
Dear Parents and Guardians, Unfortunately, we will need to begin the 2020-2021 school year fully remote. This means that all grade levels will start the school year with at home learning. This news brings about many dates and information that have to be shared prior to the start of the school year. Information Day has been canceled. Parents will be notified of student placement via email communication on Thursday, August 20th. Below is a list of dates and information regarding the start of the school year. Mark your calendar for these important dates and times. Thursday, August 20 - Student placement notification sent out via email Thursday, August 27 - Student material pick up, Grades 1-5, 1:00-4:00 p.m. Friday, August 28 - Student material pick up, Grades 1-5, 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Friday, August 28 - Virtual “Meet the Teacher” 1:00 p.m. - 1st grade 1:30 p.m. - 2nd grade 2:00 p.m. - 3rd grade 2:30 p.m. - 4th grade 3:00 p.m. - 5th grade Monday, August 31 - First day of remote learning, Grades 1-5, 8:40-3:30 p.m. Monday, August 31 - Wednesday, September 2 - In person kindergarten assessment times and "Meet the Teacher", material pick up. Thursday, September 3 - First day of remote learning for kindergarten students Stay tuned and look for next week’s Jaguar Journal for more information regarding these upcoming events. Although I am thoroughly disappointed that we cannot deliver your child’s education in person, I feel that the DuJardin staff is equipped to deliver quality instruction in a remote setting. Here’s hoping we are back to “In Person” learning sooner rather than later. Important information about off-site/at home learning days: During remote learning days, families should anticipate students engaging in learning opportunities between the hours of 8:40 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Off-site learning days will consist of both synchronous (learning at the same time, either receiving instruction directly from the teacher or being prompted to work on an assignment or project simultaneously) and asynchronous (learning the same material at different times) learning opportunities. Students/families will connect to the off-site learning opportunities through the teacher’s Google Classroom. Students/families will be sent more information about connecting to Google Classroom during “Meet the Teacher” on Friday, August 28th. Remote learning will occur in your home (or another space of your choosing that is conducive to learning) for which you or a designee of yours are responsible for childcare. Attendance will be taken daily during remote learning days.
