Vans Custom Culture Contest
"Vans Custom Culture was created to inspire and empower high school students to embrace their creativity through art and design and to bring attention to diminishing arts education budgets. Vans believes everyone should be empowered to express themselves creatively and should be given the tools to do so. Custom Culture is a national high school customization competition using blank Vans shoes to be customized around specific themes. Portola High School was 1 of 500 schools to participate in the Vans Custom Culture Contest. We were sent 2 pairs of Vans to design and submit photos. High School students were invited to submit ideas to represent the school. Emery Hart and Faith Holms' designs were selected to apply to the shoes. PHS art teacher, Mrs. Henson applied to the contest back in January. Final designs will be submitted at the end of March. Stay tuned for more information as we may need help with the public voting portion! The grand prize winner wins $75,000 for their art department as well as a concert and event at their school!"

Lassen-Plumas-Sierra Community Action Agency Survey
Do you have five minutes to answer 9 questions? The following community needs assessment survey from the Lassen-Plumas-Sierra Community Action Agency asks for your input on services in our county. The mission of the LPSCAA is to reduce poverty and work toward self-sufficiency in all our communities and utilizes revenues from state, federal, and other grant sources to plan and provide needed services for low-income people, especially vulnerable populations. The results of this survey will help make future funding decisions to local organizations that offer services consistent with the findings of this community needs assessment. Thank you - We value your input!
