CHANGES- TRAINING REQUIREMENTS (SAS 2022 Slides- Refer to slide #31)
Local Induction Program must include Educator Effectiveness training, or inductees must take the 5-hour course in SAS
- Newly appointed principals and other school leaders must be trained within first 6 months of appointment
- Principals must take the 30-hour PIL course
- Supervisors of special ed and other school leaders may take either the PIL course or the 5 hour SAS course
- All professionals need a condensed version of the training every 7 years.
Temporary Professional Employees (non-tenured) must be trained or take the SAS course before they attain tenure (during probationary period)

PDE's professional learning opportunities on Pennsylvania’s high school graduation requirements.
Webinars are 50-minute presentations with a brief question/answer period; whereas, office hours are open forums with brief introductory presentations. All sessions are scheduled from 11:00 am to noon.

Structured Literacy- Leveled Trainings
Western TaC are working to create two paths for SL.
- For districts who have had LETRS training or a similar training in the past, western TaC is in the process of developing a training more specific to those teachers' needs and understanding of SL.
- The plan is for a two half-day or one full-day training.
They are also developing a training (6-hour full day) geared towards teachers who are not deep in the world of SL but still need the training hours.
Structured Literacy Training for Admin.
ELA 7th-12 grade teachers are not required (Principals-Sept. 7th, Oct. 20th Superintendents, Sept. 27th Curriculum Council) Register in Frontline for documentation.
Career Ready PA "Dream Team" Region 3
JEFFERSON AND CLEARFIELD COUNTY DISTRICTS: Have you heard about the "PA Dream Team"? It is an outreach program to help educators looking to provide students an opportunity to explore future manufacturing careers. They can share information about their role, their career path, fun activities, and all the interesting things about working in the manufacturing world. Chief Science Officer Program - HS Leadership & Science Opportunity
We are excited to launch a Chief Science Officers Program for the 2023-2024 school year. CSOs are students in 6th to 12th grade and will become liaisons for STEM and innovation in their schools and community.
CSOs and their advisor will attend a two-day Leadership Training Institute on September 25 and September 26 at Pitt Bradford and then work throughout the year with their IU organizer (Kelsi) and school advisor, culminating in an outreach project in the spring.

What's Next? Prep for Success: SAT Prep Program
The Clarion Community Learning Workshop will be reopening in a new space at 622 Main Street, Clarion, PA (next to Dan Smith's candies). In addition to being in a new space, we are also launching a new program: "What's Next? Prep for Success: SAT Prep Program". This program is free to high school juniors and seniors in the area. All materials will be provided. The attached flier contains information such as dates and times. We will start classes on the evening of Monday, October 9th. A Saturday morning option is also available.

L.A.U.N.C.H PROGRAM: Virtual Book Study Series
In working with our partners at Pittsburgh Technology Council, we are piloting a virtual book club specifically for Riverview IU#6 region with the hope that we can continue this at a greater capacity for future cohorts. Each virtual session will take an hour and a half, with about 30-45 minutes of the time discussing the book Boldly You by Janet Phan and the remaining time will be hosted by a guest speaker on a topic of their choosing.

Career Ready PA Reboot Camp
Career Ready PA Reboot Camp

9am-3:30pm Lunch will be provided.Training will be provided by the Career Readiness State Training (CRST) team and will include the following: Career Readiness and Workforce in PA (Career Education and Work Standards) Industry-Based Learning Stakeholder and Outreach Classroom and Workforce Alignment Act 158 Alignment Grants, Resources, Remake Learning. District attendance can include K-12 educators who are new to career and workforce readiness and may benefit from a refresher. Updates and resources not available in the original boot camp are included with this training. With an emphasis on classroom alignment to workforce needs, team composition should include teachers from both elementary and secondary. We are excited to include representatives from the Apprenticeship & Training Office (ATO) to share resources about pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships. The goal of this training is to introduce new staff and reacquaint existing staff with new developments, trainings, and initiatives that utilize stakeholder and workforce partnerships to expand the classroom to career connections and build schoolwide momentum for career readiness. Team members will be poised to provide support after this training.
