Message from the Principal
Dear Central Road Families,
It was amazing to welcome back our 1st and 2nd graders! We can’t wait to see our 3rd and 4th grade students on Monday!
We are making daily adjustments to our procedures at school.
Masks: Masks are now required during recess. We will continue to teach, support, and acknowledge good choices with social distancing. If your child would like a mask break, they are welcome to sit on a bench, while 6 feet from other students to take their mask off.
Arrival: Please review the arrival video with your child prior to their first day back to school. Video
Dismissal: Teachers will be walking out students who are bus riders. Car riders will wait inside our school while social distancing in the hallways. Students who are walkers will wait by Door 4 for a family member to arrive.
As we welcome back students, we wanted to remind you that students will remain with their homeroom classrooms to the greatest extent possible. During recess, students are playing in zones. Specials area teachers are pushing into classrooms to teach lessons. If your child’s class integrates for specials, PE and music will be taught in the gym or music room. Integration is a combination of two classes, one bilingual classroom and one general education classroom. The music room and gym will be sanitized after integrated classes use the space. Students will also begin moving for out of level math placements. Desks will be sanitized before and after math class.
Our wonderful PTA began the planning process for a Trunk or Treat later this month. Due to the CDCs recent recommendations for Halloween events, we can not move forward with this event. Our PTA will continue to engage our community in family events. We hope you chalked your sidewalks last week!
The NWEA MAP Testing has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 13th- Friday, October 16th. Students in Grades 2-6 will complete the reading and math MAP assessments.
Picture day will be on Thursday, October 22nd. Interstate Studios has several safety precautions in place to ensure everyone stays safe. If the weather permits, we will set up tents outside for pictures. A schedule will be shared with families. Students in virtual classrooms will be invited to come to Central Road on picture day during a designated time slot.
We can’t wait to see our third and fourth-grade students tomorrow!
Let’s make it a great week!
Warmly,
Patti Van Winkle, Principal
