Message from Assistant Principal Spevak
Dear DATA Students, Families, Staff, and Friends,
Thank you for the opportunity to serve you as your assistant principal. It is with mixed emotions that I announce I have accepted a position at a job closer to my family and where I can continue to pursue my passion of supporting Arts students. This is my last month in Ventura Unified after 10+ years of growth and experiences with you. I am forever grateful for this time and I continue to be a proud cheerleader of DATA and VUSD.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS
All students participated in an assembly regarding Middle School and High School expectations and also received details about the new device policy starting Semester 2 (1/27/20). If you have any questions, please contact your child’s aligned School Counselor: Mr. Gonzales (A-L) or Mrs. Durkee (M-Z).
New Cell Phone Policy
At the beginning of Semester 2 (effective January 28, 2020), students will not be allowed to use their cell phones during nutrition and lunch in alignment with all other middle schools within our district. Cell phone use in the classroom will continue to be permitted with teacher granted permission for educational purposes.
Administrators and counselors will be presenting information to students prior to the end of semester 1 as we transition to this new site policy. Navigator News in the next weeks will have tips for parents in communicating with their child as needed. Cell phones are allowed on campus but must be powered off or silenced during the instructional day (9 a.m.-3:13 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 9 a.m.-1:35 p.m. on Fridays).
DATA will continue to support the use of student issued technology (Chromebook) during nutrition and lunch in approved designated areas.
