February Newsletter
February is Black History Month
ELA/Reading
Our awesome 4th Grade Scholars have completed two novels since October! The are working on reading with fidelity and practicing fluency everyday. This month we will be reading The Watson's Go To Birmingham in honor of Black History Month.
ELA/Writing
This group of students has impressed me with their love of Writing. We write every morning! Ask them to share our February poem with you. Some students even memorized it. We also started the month off by writing I Am poems. These were beautiful expressions of how each student in 201 sees themselves. The results were truly inspiring.
Math
In Math, we are challenging ourselves to master different methods to solve multi-digit multiplication problems. We are just completing the Lattice method which has been very helpful in helping students see their math process in a new way. We are still practicing or multiplication tables every day to build that number fluency which is so important in problem solving. This week we are moving on to the 10,11,and 12's.
