Upcoming HMS Band Events
- Oct. 11th - (9:30-10:30AM) Band Day Field Trip to Har-Ber Wildcat Stadium. Students will walk over to see both the Har-Ber and Springdale High School Marching Band performances. Click link to sign up to be a parent chaperone! Students need to wear RED this day to represent Hellstern.
- Oct. 16th - Band Pictures have been rescheduled to this day! We had them scheduled on Sept. 26th, but had to reschedule due to the Har-Ber Homecoming Parade, which is during school hours. Wear band t-shirt, long blue jeans, and closed-toed shoes. Athletic shoes are most popular choice of shoe. Band shirts will be given out prior to pictures on this day. - Oct. 17th - Band Incentive Field Trip to the UA & Lokomotion. Students who met their car wash goal have earned an incentive field trip. In addition, all band fees need to be paid in full by this date (band fees were due Aug. 20th). Students will need to wear band t-shirts this day. A pizza buffet will be provided for lunch with no charge for students. Optional purchases: $12 - 1 hr unlimited attractions or $16 - 2 hr unlimited attractions. Arcades are optional purchases as well. Students might have an opportunity to purchase U of A merchandise if time allows. Top 3 prizes and the money drawing will happen the morning of the trip. Students will leave HMS at 8:30am and return to HMS by 2:30pm. Click link to sign up to be a parent chaperone.
- Dec. 5th - HMS Band Concert (7:00-7:30pm) at Har-Ber High School Performing Arts Center. This is a required event worth 500 points. Students will be required to wear band shirt, long blue jeans, and closed-toe shoes. Admission is free for family and friends. It will also be live-streamed on youtube.

Sending a message to the code, sends a text notification to Mrs. Huffman. It is the preferred way of texting between students/parents and Mrs. Huffman.

BAND SUPPLIES
Students need to have the proper instrument and supplies for class.
The deadline was August 20th. Supplies can be purchased in the band room at the prices listed. Also, students may shop for these prices at a local music store or online.
Reeds may be purchased by the box ($30 for a box of 10 reeds) or individually ($3 per reed). Students on clarinet and saxophone are required to have a minimum of 4 good reeds at all times.
Practice Homework Sheets
A weekly grade is being entered into the gradebook. Parents are required to sign their name or initials on the form once per week.
Even if students can play their test lines, they need to be reviewing and looking ahead in their books. Practicing builds their endurance (muscle strength & muscle memory) along with their coordination.
Set aside 30 minutes at least 5 days of the week for practice.
If students need a folding music stand for home practice, we sell them for $10 at school. They normally are $18-20 at the store.
HMS Band Shirts
Students will be required to wear shirts for band pictures, band performances, and specified band field trips. Shirts need to be worn with long, blue jeans & closed-toed shoes.
Band Car Wash
We raised $10,800 this year! Wow!!! We could not have had this kind of success without the efforts of the students, parents, family members, and our Springdale community.
