Green Card Prizes

Did you know? We have a positive behavioral intervention program in our school, tied to our core values: perseverance, exploration, responsibility, community and kindness. Students who are "caught" doing the right thing and embodying our core values earn a green card from a staff member. At the end of the month, a student in sixth, seventh and eighth grade will each have their name pulled from the green cards that were distributed for the month, and will earn a prize.

In the past, students have earned milkshakes from Richdales, ice cream from Captain Dusty's, Dunkin' Donuts giftcards, Surfari gift cards, and iTunes gift certificates. We are looking for donations in the form of prizes or gift cards in small values ($5, $10 or $15) as prizes for our monthly drawing.

If you are able to make a green card prize donation, please drop it off with Mrs. Hunt in the main office, labeled with "Green Card Prizes." Thank you for your consideration!

Grade 6 Science Star Lab: Thank you PMEMS!

Last week, our PTO, PMEMS (Parents of Manchester Essex Middle School) generously funded and organized a visit from the Museum of Science for our sixth graders. The Museum of Science Star Lab came to us - and brought two inflatable planetariums! Students had the opportunity to spend an hour in an inflatable planetarium, working with Mrs. Ells, Mrs. Locke, Ms. Noviello and a Museum of Science museum educator.

What a fabulous opportunity this was for our students! A big thank you to our PTO!

Nominate a MERMS educator to be Massachusetts Teacher of the Year!

Each year the Massachusetts Teacher of the Year (TOY) program honors a Massachusetts teacher who exemplifies excellent teaching in the Commonwealth. Beyond celebrating the individual, the program looks at the complex work that is involved in educating all students through highlighting student achievement, commitment to the profession, innovations in education, and teacher leadership. It draws attention to issues of teacher quality and reiterates the importance of the teacher as the single most important school-based factor in improving student outcomes.
