Garden Club
October 2014
Welcome to the STAR Garden
The STAR Garden is the interactive garden area for students at Silver Lake Elementary. Last year was our first year for the Garden Club. We were able to establish a garden that produces many fruits, vegetables and herbs throughout the year. Students worked together to plant, water and harvest foods each month. This year we plan to continue to provide a garden that produces foods, as well as offer a learning area for all students and teachers to explore.
Mrs. Dorgan
Mrs. Dorgan is a hard working volunteer at SLE. She spends days, nights, weekends and summer days working to keep our garden growing. We appreciate her very much!
Mrs. Dorgan walked teachers through the Star Garden before the school year began. We have plans to provide a hands-on, learning environment for all our students at SLE in our garden.
Visitors
We observe all kinds of visitors in the Star Garden! We have seen grasshoppers, bees, caterpillars, butterflies, ladybugs and more!
Produce
The Star Garden has many fruits, vegetables and herbs growing inside. Last year we shook sunflower seeds from the giant sunflowers! It is exciting to see plants grow.
