Brevard is a city in Transylvania County, North Carolina, United States, with a population of 7,609 as of the 2010 Census. It is the county seat of Transylvania County. Transylvania was formed in 1861 from parts of Henderson County and Jackson County. Its name is derived from the colonial Transylvania Company and has Latin origins:trans ("across") and silva ("woods").
