NEWS FROM THE DISCOVERY CENTRE!!
1. 500 Words 2014 BBC competition! Write a short story and win a pile of books as tall you are! We will help you to submit it. Deadline: 26 February 7pm. You can't be older than 13 on 30 May 2014. More info on http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00rfvk1
2. On 6th February, 10am till 12pm, we will be hosting a creative writing workshop with Michael Wills who is writing a new book. We already have a list of students interested in taking part, but if there is anyone else who would like to do it, please talk to us. You would need to read two chapters of the manuscript before the workshop.
3. A BIG welcome to our new librarians: Waris, Kenya and Chloe.
4. Start preparing for a whole school Chess Tournament - the competition starts on 24 February. Please register with us if you want to take part. Let the battle begin! :)
5. Lunchtime activities next week- celebrating Chinese new year.

Wednesday 29th January is the junior and senior basketball against cotham at home.
Both year 7 & 8 indoor athletics reached the final today at st Bernadette's
Last night junior basketball beat Fairfield and seniors narrowly lost by two points to Fairfield .
Our year 7 boys have qualified for the sportshall athletics finals!
Next week there is boys basketball match after school on Wednesday and girls basketball U14 and U16 match on Thursday – make sure they come to training
