Congratulations To West Women's Choir!
West Women’s Choir recently performed at the American Choral Directors Association’s (ACDA)Eastern Division Conference in Boston. They were the only high school women’s choir chosen to perform out of the 11 state division and the invitation represents the highest honor in choral singing in our country. The choir performed 13 pieces of music, 12 of which were written specifically for them. The two packed concerts at St. Cecelia Church were attended by hundreds of choral conductors and musicians.
Congratulations to West Women’s Choir for this incredible honor.
Jazz on the West Side
On Saturday, February 27, the CBW Band Department proudly presents Jazz on the West Side. This year’s jazz festival will feature performances by 11 exceptional bands from surrounding school districts.
The first band begins at 5:00 pm. Feel free to come and go from the auditorium, eat some great food (warm cookies topped with ice cream!), but just make sure you’re back by 9:45 pm to see the always exciting CBW Jazz Ensemble! See the full schedule by visiting www.tinyurl.com/cbwjazz2016.
At the festival, we will also be holding a drawing for a brand new Seaboard RISE-49 keyboard! For those who remember the concert we held last January, our students were featured performing on an 88-key version of this revolutionary new instrument.
Tickets for the drawing can be purchased for $10 at the festival or prior from Mr. Delson and the drawing will take place prior to the awards ceremony. We will have several instruments for folks to try at the show, too! Don’t miss this amazing chance to take home one of these revolutionary new instruments! Visit the link below to learn more about the Seaboard RISE-49.
AP Exam Registration
Advanced Placement exams will be administered at CB West during the first two weeks of May (dates and times of AP Exams are determined by College Board). This year, students will register for their AP Exams through the online service, My Payments Plus. All students who are enrolled in an AP class (or classes) this school year will receive the AP Bulletin and a letter outlining how to register/pay online for their AP exams. Students will receive this information in their Advisories on Friday, February 12. Once students receive their letter and the AP Bulletin, they may register for their AP Exams (registration window is open from February 15 – March 15, 2016). Any questions regarding AP exam registration should be directed to the Guidance Office, 267-893-2512.
SAVE THE DATE!
CB West's Harlequin Club is proud to present Les Miserables, directed by Jessica Bostock, on March 17, March 18, and March 19. All shows begin at 7:30 PM.
Congratulations, Brandon Schneer!
Brandon Schneer, CB West Senior, recently competed in the SkillsUSA competition as a student at the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT). Brandon attends MBIT's electrical program and was chosen to be in the team building competition. His team took first place and is now going on to the State Competition in Hershey in April.
At the same time, Brandon took his Oath of Enlistment for the USMC and is presently in the Delayed Entry Program, scheduled for boot camp in September in Paris Island, South Carolina.
Throughout his life, Brandon has been gifted with his ability to learn hands-on skills and to follow in his father's footsteps in learning the electrical trade. Brandon also always had an interest in joining the military. As a result, he took the necessary steps in learning about the military, gaining knowledge of the different branches, and studying our country's military history. He is following in his grandfather's, Douglas H. Simons, footsteps of being a Marine as well.
Congratulation, Brandon! CB West is Proud!
