Building Capacity for all to be G.R.E.A.T.S.
March 2021: From the Principal's Office
It is truly wonderful having our Gilder GREAT students present for 5 day learning. The energy and excitement in the air is electric and each day we are all very thankful to be present in person to share our talents and gifts with one another. Your students are being vigilant of social distancing, wearing facial coverings and are mindful of procedures. We are so proud of how safe all students are striving to be each and every day about their Gilder community; thank you families for ensuring your student(s) care for the world around them.
Together we can, and together we will!
Blessings,
Mrs. Schmidt

Counselor's Corner
6th Grade Parents-
It may be hard to believe, but the time to register your 6th grader for Middle School is fast approaching. The Middle School Counselors will either be registering your student here at Gilder or virtually. Registration will take place at the end of March or the beginning of April. I would encourage you to make some time to talk with your 6th grader during Spring Break regarding their personal interests. Would they still enjoy Choir or Band? Do they have an interest in Art, or any interest in technology? If you have any questions, please contact me.

One way signage & floor markings in the building ensure clear and consistent safety procedures in all areas.
A Gilder GREAT Arrival
- All students will be required to wear a mask before entering, if they do not have a mask one will be provided.
- Students eating breakfast enter through the main entrance #1.
- Students not eating breakfast enter through the northwest entrance #18.
- 8:50 (school begins) or later ALL students will enter through the main entrance #1- they may receive breakfast or report to class.
Dismissal
- It is imperative that we social distance while waiting at dismissal. With the cold weather cannot huddle it is unsafe.
- We will follow 6ft. guidelines during dismissal: waiting inside or outside on floor markings.
- We will not allow students to cross traffic to get into cars.
- We will have MORE cars and MORE students at dismissal and it is imperative that we all follow safety standards and ensure that adults pull up to the curb and staff escort students into the cars safely.
- Students need to be escorted by a parent/guardian if they are going to a parked car away from the curb.
- Gilder staff will remain with their class until ALL students have been accounted for and dismissed.
- Pre-Kinder, Kindergarten and First grade students and their siblings will be dismissed in the southeast parking lot (behind the school).
- Second, Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth grade students will be dismissed in the north parking lot at the main entrance.
Daily Attendance
We want to provide a reminder that attendance is taken every day for all students. This includes learners utilizing 100% remote instruction and students participating in the family 5 day in person learning.
Any day a student is remote, the child needs to log in for the morning meeting by 8:50.
6th Grade students log in at 9:45 after their Specials.
If a child misses the morning meeting, he or she will be marked absent.
If a child is going to be absent for any reason (illness, appointment, technical issues, etc.), please notify the main office 531.299.1500.
