TLC Team Spotlight
The TLC team has been able to work together more specifically at a building level, becoming more detailed with what our roles can look like as model teachers and instructional coaches. A large part of this process was initiated by a class we were able to participate in at the beginning of January, lead by Leanna Harris of Diane Sweeney Consulting. It was offered by AEA 267 and discussed the idea of learning labs and how they can be utilized to promote student growth.
Learning labs are structured environments where model teachers open their doors to other teachers in the district. Through the use of specific strength-based protocols, teachers are able to "pre-brief" about what they will be seeing, observe student/teacher interactions in the classroom, and de-brief about what they saw and heard. It's a great reflective tool for the teacher that is being observed, as well as for those that are participating. Instructional coaches and administration had the opportunity to attend a learning lab earlier this year, and walked away with wonderful insight about how it could be used in each building. We are excited to see how components of a learning lab can help encourage reflectiveness and collaborative conversations about student learning among staff! Stay tuned for more information!
