Kudos for a job well done! ECSE/GSRP Field Desk Audit was a Success!

As you may know, last Friday, May 6th was the Field Desk Audit for our ECSE/GSRP program. The auditors came and went through all of the required paperwork for our ECSE/GSRP students. After a four hour visit, our program received a glowing report. The auditor's stated that Carrie Blazen's record keeping sets the gold standard amongst programs of this type because of meeting stringent requirements from both special education and GSRP. The auditors had a lot of great things to say about our program in general. They praised the document that Holly Halabicky created for the program and they praised the bright and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Carrie noted that Mrs. Kathy LaFeldt's guidance from administration also paved the way for this accomplishment. All of our teachers that have made this pilot program a success deserve a shout out as well. Mrs. Angela Clark, Mrs. Stephanie Blouir, Mrs. Susan Clase, Mrs. Heather Williamson, Mrs. Jennifer Webster, and help from our monitors Mrs. Lewandowski and Mrs. Vickerman. Way to go!

Intersessions for 2016-2017

The Balanced Calendar Steering Committee continues to meet on a regular basis to ensure solid plans are in place for 2016-2017 intersessions. Registration for intersessions opened to families on Monday, May 2nd. Brochures and registration forms have been sent home with students or mailed with report cards. Within the first week of registration, we had over 60 families register. As I am doing intake appointments with our preschool parents, I am giving families the preschool intersession brochure and registration forms along with an explanation of what intersessions are and answering questions that they may have. At this time, we want to encourage all families that want or need for their children to attend intersessions to register. Scholarships are going to be available for families. A scholarship review committee is being formed and will set criteria, review scholarship applications, and let families know whether or not and how much of a scholarship they will be offered. I will share more details regarding this topic in the upcoming weeks. If you are interested in applying to work during one or more intersessions next year, various positions are posted on the Davison website.

Genesee Great Start Parent Coalition at Davison GSRP

Davison GSRP hosted the May 2016 Genesee Great Start Parent Coalition. Several families from around Genesee County attended the meeting at Central Elementary Tuesday, May 10th. Dinner was served and child care was provided. A special thank you to Mrs. Vickerman for helping out with child care. Parents learned about free summer activities and opportunities in Genesee County. Families also learned about resources for receiving help with Consumer's Energy bills, housing in times of need, health insurance resources, and more.
