2019-2020 CLASS PROJECTS FEATURED

Just a reminder for all parents and bidders. The class projects included in the 2021 ICCS PTO Virtual Auction were created by your child and his or her former classmates in 2019-2020.

As many recall, we were seven days away from the 2020 ICCS PTO Dinner Auction when Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards announced the mandatory quarantine and school closures in March of last year. As a result, the 2019-2020 Auction class projects were never formally revealed or bid on. Unfortunately, 2020-2021 class projects were unable to be coordinated and created due to current COVID precautions and restrictions.

Look for your student's 2019-2020 teacher's name or grade for a description and photo of the class project. These special keepsakes were made with love by your student and his/her former classmates.

THE VIRTUE OF TRUSTWORTHINESS

ICCS PK-8th Grade students will be focusing on the virtue of Trustworthiness throughout the month of April. Trustworthiness means to act in a way that inspires confidence and trust; being reliable. Our students are learning about ways to cultivate trustworthiness, such as performing actions that restore and maintain trust; including acting with fidelity in small and large matters. Here is a small example of what students are learning in relation to this important virtue.

TRUSTWORTHINESS LOOKS LIKE:
  • Finishing a job or task well
  • Delivering an important message to someone
  • Turning homework in on time
  • Telling the truth
  • Knowing when to be silent; not gossiping about someone

TRUSTWORTHINESS SOUNDS LIKE:
  • "I finished the job that you asked me to do."
  • "You can depend on me. You can rely on me."
  • "I turned my homework in on time."
  • "I told the truth about breaking the plate."
  • "Let’s not talk about him or her in that way."

LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION!

Due to COVID restrictions, the annual ICCS Middle School Drama Production live performances were unable to take place this year, but that did not stop Mrs. Virginia-Kate Jessen and her Middle School enrichment students from producing two great video performances for all to enjoy. Check out the student's renditions of the comical murder mystery, "Cafe Murder" and "High School Musical." Both videos are posted below. Bravo to the Middle School students for producing two great video performances. Excellent work, everyone!

CLASSROOM AND SCHOOL NEWS

"ELVIS" VISITED ICCS TODAY

"Elvis" (AKA John Ieyoub) and Allie Ieyoub Davis led the Kindergarten P.E. Class this morning. Our students help "Elvis" and "Mrs. Allie" film the warm-up video for the upcoming virtual Autism Walk scheduled for this weekend. To view footage of this fun and exciting (and totally adorable) class time activity, check out the ICCS Facebook page.

LOCAL SEMINARIAN VISITS ICCS

Diocese of Lake Charles Seminarian, Hunter LaRocca stopped by ICCS on Tuesday, March 30, to visit with Ms. Solari and Mrs. Bushnell's 3rd Grade students about his life in the seminary. As a service project, our 3rd Grade students have been praying for our local seminarians throughout the school year. It was nice for the students to personally meet one of the men they have been praying for all these months. Hunter answered the student's questions about his daily activities as a seminarian and his faith journey.

PREPARING FOR HOLY WEEK

Our 1st Grade students prepared their minds and hearts for Holy Week by participating in a self-guided "children's version" of the Stations of the Cross in the ICCS Library Courtyard. The students enjoyed this experience and learned more about Jesus' passion, death, and resurrection.

WASHING OF THE FEET

Mrs. Brown's 2nd Grade students were the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to each other on Thursday, March 31 as they celebrated Holy Week. The students washed and blessed each other's feet during a special classroom activity. This special act of love and service is Catholic education at its very best!

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

On Holy Thursday, April 1, our 7th Graders led a very special and spiritual moving Stations of the Cross presentation for all students and faculty members on the ICCS playground. Many thanks to the 7th Grade students, Mrs. Millissa Thibodeaux, Mrs. Rose Viau, and Mrs. Virginia-Kate Jessen for all the time, energy, and effort they put into this live reenactment.

DIVINE MERCY CHAPLET

Our 3rd Graders, along with Mrs. Virginia-Kate Jessen and our 8th Grade Cantors, led students in the Divine Mercy Chaplet Monday afternoon. The Chaplet was recited on the playground in honor of Divine Mercy Weekend, which took place Saturday-Sunday, April 10-11.

PRAYER AGAINST THE CORONAVIRUS

O Mary, you shine continuously along our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.

We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the Cross were near to the pain of Jesus, keeping your faith firm.

You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this moment of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us, He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and took up our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.

We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
