JANUARY 2022
SENIOR UPDATE / SCHOLARSHIPS
The Guidance Counselors will meet with the Seniors on Tuesday, January 18th during Advisory to discuss the importance of applying to local scholarships. Local scholarships are actively being added to Naviance and posted outside of the guidance office on the bulletin board. Please view the step-by-step tutorial: How use Naviance to search for local scholarships.
All scholarships will require students to complete an application and some may also require an essay, transcripts, and/or a copy of the letter of recommendation. Students should read the descriptions carefully and be mindful of deadlines. If a transcript is required, students will need to complete the Transcript Request Form. The form should be given to Mrs. Webb the Guidance Secretary a minimum of 5 days prior to the deadline.
TRANSCRIPTS:
Mid-year transcripts will be sent to the colleges that students have applied to one week after grades post in January. (Seniors do not need to request to have the mid-year transcripts sent.) Seniors are encouraged to keep strong grades for the remainder of the school year, despite college acceptances. Keep in mind, a final transcript will also be sent to the colleges after graduation for a final grade review & to confirm graduation.
JUNIORS & POST-SECONDARY PLANNING
The Junior College Planning YouTube tutorial is posted below for parents to view. The tutorial reviews the information shared in the Junior Seminars including a Naviance demo on how to research colleges and determine if the college is a good fit based on the student's current GPA and PSAT scores. Following the seminars, junior parents will be invited to sign up to attend a virtual meeting with the guidance counselors for a demo of Naviance and to answer any post-secondary planning questions.
