Ladue will be making a trip to the final four this weekend. Our season is still going as we play St. Mary's in the semi-final game.
GirlsBasketball
The 2017- 2018 season saw the Ladue Girls Basketball Team take a major step towards becoming a solid program in St. Louis. The improved schedule had the team competing early in the season against the top teams in the area with 6 of our 7 losses to schools ranked in the top 5. Four of the losses were to number one ranked teams in the St. Louis area.
By playing against the best early into the schedule Ladue achieved results by winning the MICDS Holiday Tournament and following up with a second place finish in the Webster Groves Tournament.
Success just didn’t stop with wins and losses. Jordan Peete became the 3rdplayer at Ladue to reach the 1000 point status since 1999 and Katie Minkler received the honor of being named player of the week on KFNS.
The stage is set for 2018-2019 returning four seniors that started as juniors. They will continue to build on making believers out of non-believers as Ladue Girls Basketball is set to soar next year.Wrestling
Wrestling
To recap the 2018-19 season, the rams finish with a 10-10 dual record with 6 individual tournament champions. The rams had 4 state qualifiers, one being senior captain Patrick Kovalak who finished the season with 23 wins and finished in the top 10 in career pins. Senior Jack Madden finished as the team leader in pins with 16 breaking into the top 10 for career pins as well. Senior Jack Gallemore returned for his 3rd year and stepped up to help the rams finishing with 14 wins and 9 pins.
Jake Mann wins a State Championship at Missouri's 120 pound weight class. In one of the most dominant performances of the tournament, Mann pinned all of his opponents on his way to the state title. This is Ladue’s fiirst state champion since 1966 and 4th overall. He finished his sophomore season 30-1.
The rams had 2 other state qualifiers: Junior Callen Morley and Sophomore Manar Fajors. Morley finished his 3rd year on varsity, a now 2X state qualifier, 25-9 taking him into 14th in career wins, 4th in career pins and 2nd in career takedowns. Fajors finished top 8 in the state tournament with a season record of 25-4. All four of his losses were to state medalists. Fajors, for the 2nd straight year, held the team take down title, setting the Ladue career mark in takedowns after only his 2nd season.

Ritenour High School
Girls Swimming
The girls' swimming season was highly successful. Our record was 12-7 with a second place finish in the Blue Conference Swim Meet. At the meet, Ritenour took seven first places and finished strong with 18 personal bests including a new school record in the 100 Backstroke by Jayden Frost. She beat the previous record by nearly three seconds. We had a small team, but only graduated one senior, Lexy Alanis. Overall, the team worked really well together and I cannot wait to continue the work we started this season, next year.
Boys Basketball
The Ritenour Huskies had a challenging year record wise but gained valuable experience for it's younger players and is looking forward to the future. The huskies primary minutes were played by underclassmen. Juniors Gerale Corley, Jakobi Flynn, and Brandon Clarke all played quality minutes while sophomores Brian Golden and Johnny Mayberry also contributed with Mayberry averaging 9 ppg. With those five returning along with other young players, the future will be bright for the Huskies.
Girls Basketball
The 2018-2019 RHS girls’ basketball season started with new Head Coach Robert Kennedy and a very young, inexperienced team. These dynamics brought challenges to the program. With Coach Kennedy’s expertise, progress was made even though the scorebook did not indicate it at times. The varsity team had three seniors with 1-3 years of varsity experience and the rest (freshmen and sophomores) with limited varsity exposure. Be that as it may, there were one all-conference selection: Nature Frost (first team) and Trinity Lewis was also awarded a sportsmanship award. Although having a young team posed a challenge for the program, Coach Kennedy sees promise for the future. He has brought a relentless work ethic, high expectations and a determination for daily player improvement. With the hard work of the returning Huskies and Coach Kennedy’s vision of greatness, there is a great future awaiting the girls’ basketball program at RHS.
Wrestling
Anthony Chrunn, a junior, qualified for the State Championships at 106 and wrestled to the 4th round wrestlebacks. He is a 2 year wrestler for the varsity squad. Geraldine Flores, a senior, qualified for the Historic Girls State Championship at 187. She wrestled to the 4th round wrestlebacks. She is a 2 year wrestler and will be missed. She is the first Girl Wrestler to win the Championship 1st place belt at the Francis Howell Eric Thrasher Wrestling Tournament.
Webster Groves High School
Our girls swimming and diving team placing third at the MSHSAA Class 1 state meet highlighted the Webster Groves High School winter sport season. A total of swimmers won medals at the state meet including Chloe Hagemann (1), Libby Seitz (2), Elisabeth Ragan (2), Madeleine Collier (2), Kendra Howard (3), Lili Gregov (3), and the Statesmen were led by Parker Hagemann who won 4 state medals of her own.
At the Class 3 wrestling state meet, senior Eric Pettibone won a state medal by placing 6th in the 138 pound division. In the girls division, sophomore Hannah Jansen qualified for the state meet and placed 5thin her weight class.
Clayton High School
Cheerleading and Dance
It was a season of something new for the cheerleaders and Dance team as the groups combined to take a unified direction in promoting school spirit.
The numbers were not as high as the fall but it was a great group of young girls who will only continue to improve.
We look forward to watching this group grow.
Girls Basketball:
The Lady Greyhound basketball team finished the 18-19 season with a record of 16-11. During the season the ladies played for three tournament championships (Clayton, Burroughs, Districts), winning the Class 4 District 6 championship and moving into state sectionals against Parkway North. The district title is the third in school history, and the fourth year in a row that Clayton has been in the title game.
Honors gained this season include Channel 11 scholar athlete of the month, Jade Pierce; and Schnucks KFNS student-athlete of the week, Mira Upshaw. Post season honors for All-Conference went to: Mira Upshaw, 1st Team; Sara Litteken, 2nd Team; Ruby Gallegos, Honorable Mention; Morgan Nettles, Sportsmanship. All-District honors went to: Mira Upshaw, Sara Litteken, and Ruby Gallegos.
The Hounds will miss the contributions of seniors Destiny Downs and Mia Higgins-Thomas. Both have worked hard and battled injury through their careers. The varsity team will return 12 of the 14 players next season.
Boys Basketball
The Boys Basketball completed their season as they filled the commons last night for their end of year banquet. The team finished the season with a record of (11-15) but was one of the toughest and hardest working teams we have had in a while.
There was absolutely no quit from these boys and a lot of games came down to the wire. The commitment the showed to one another, the program and school was inspiring.
The Greyhounds finished 4th in a very strong Southside Classic field, knocked off the 3 seed & 1 seed en route to a 3rd place finish in the Rotating 8 Tournament, and finished 2nd in the conference, while being 2nd in the league in scoring & 1st in league defense.
Honors this season include:
Ray Wood – All-District Team
Darryl Sams – 1st Team All-Conference, Hunter Chesnutt-Perry – 2nd Team All-Conference, & Rohan Tripathy – Honorable Mention All-Conference
Jake Sher – Conference Sportsmanship Award
Ray Wood & Darryl Sams – Academic All-State
Manager Ally Wade – nominated for Student Manager of the Year in Missouri.
We send off 7 seniors including Blake Bax, Rob Miles, Jay Palamand, Jake Sher, Darryl Sams, Ray Wood & Ally Wade. While they will be missed, we are excited to see the success & happiness they obtain in their lives.
Wrestling
It was a season to remember as the Hounds had a competitive season despite numbers being down.
The team was highly composed of new wrestlers along with Freshman standout Josh Julian.
Upper classmen Jeremiah Austin and Khaylie Ross led the way though as they amassed 4 wins together at the State Wrestling Championships.
Both won two matches, and got to the bubble match in their respective brackets, meaning they were only one win away from being guaranteed a medal.
Khaylie was a top six finish, while Jeremiah finished in the top 8.
Though the Hounds fell short of bringing home the hardware, it was an impressive performance and the first time Clayton has had a wrestler compete on Championship Saturday in over a decade.
Both Khaylie and Jeremiah represented Clayton in such a way that coaches, wrestlers and parents from around the state took notice.
It was a proud moment as their hard work and dedication put CHS on the map!
Jeremiah and Khaylie were both 1st Team All Conference selections with Khaylie being selected as the Conference Player of the Year (POY).
Congratulations to both Khaylie and Jeremiah for outstanding seasons!
Girls Swimming and Diving
The Girls Swimming and Diving team had a fantastic season as they had high participation and put many swimmers in the state meet.
The Hounds will bring back a lot of talent next year and the program on looks to get better.
Congratulation to everyone on a great season!!
