Teacher of the Year and Support Staff Employee of the Year

Patrick Hemmingsen, chemistry teacher at Raymore-Peculiar High School, is the 2016 Teacher of the Year, and Aurora Rivera, paraprofessional at Bridle Ridge Intermediate School, is the 2016 Support Staff Employee of the Year. The announcement of both awards came during the April 6th dinner to honor the finalists for each award.

District seeks feedback on math curriculum

The Raymore-Peculiar School District seeks your participation in the curriculum review process. (http://www.raypec.k12.mo.us/index.aspx?nid=134)



Reviewing and updating curriculum is a part of the district's ongoing commitment to provide the best educational opportunities for students. The Board will review and approve each curriculum developed by the District.


Math is the current content area going through formal review. Follow the links below for a description of the Math curriculum for pre-kindergarten through 12th grades and to provide feedback. The feedback form will be accessible April 8th through 22nd.

Girls on the Run

Due to a couple of school meetings/events on the next two Tuesdays, we are needing to change the date that we will have GOTR after school. Here is a list of the dates that we will have GOTR in April: 11th, 14th, 20th, 21st, 26th, and the 28th.

Spring Benchmark Assessments

The deadline for SRI assessments to be completed is Friday, April 15th. In addition, the AIMSweb deadline is Friday, April 22nd. Thanks in advance for your efforts. Be sure to update your data grid with spring scores by Friday, April 29th.

Voters elect Bailey, Edmonsond to Board


Voters on April 5 elected Kim Bailey and Susan Edmonsond to serve three-year terms on the School Board. Six candidates were seeking the two available seats. Bailey and Edmonson will replace incumbents Leo Anderson and Joe Anthuis on the Board.

Unofficial election results show these vote totals:

  • Leo Anderson, 1,524 votes
  • Lane T. Lucas, 902 votes
  • Susan Edmonsond, 1,630 votes
  • Joe Anthuis, 1,004 votes
  • Kim Bailey, 1,926 votes
  • Patrick S. Clark, 1,159 votes
  • Write-in candidates, 24 votes

A reorganization meeting, at which new Board members will take the oath of office and Board officers for the coming year will be elected, is scheduled for Tuesday, April 19.

Voters Pass $27 Million Bond Issue with 79.85 Percent Approval


Ray-Pec voters on April 5 approved the $27 million bond issue. Unofficial election results show that the question passed with 79.85 percent approval. Cass County election results showed 3,745 "yes" votes and 945 "no" votes. Superintendent Dr. Kari Monsees thanked community members, parents, and staff for support of the bond issue. "We appreciate the overwhelming support of the community on this bond issue," he said. "The improvements will benefit our students for many years to come." MAP Proctor Training

On Tuesday, April 12th from 4:15-5:15 p.m. we will meet in the library at Bridle Ridge for MAP training. All staff members involved in administering the MAP tests are required to attend. Please contact me directly if you need to make plans to attend an alternative session.

Faculty Meeting

BYOD Training

The next BYOD training will take place at Eagle Glen after school in the library on Monday, April 18th from 4:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Please contact Mrs. Ricker if you have any questions.

Wedding Shower for Andrea Wilen

Please join us for a Wedding Shower in honor of Andrea Wilen and Brian Becker after school in the library on Tuesday, April 19th at 4:00 p.m.

Team Ray-Pec

Vertical Team Meeting

The next Vertical Team meeting will take place at the Academy Building from 4:00-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21st.

Raymore Day at the K is April 24th

BIST

Judith will join us again to provide ongoing support on Tuesday, April 26th. Mr. Harrington will provide a schedule.

MAP Tests

Students will be taking the MAP Tests starting on Tuesday, April 26th - Thursday, May 5th. If at all possible, we would appreciate it if parents would schedule appointments around the MAP tests. Within the next week I will send a letter home with additional details. In the meantime, parents are encouraged to call the school if they need specific testing times for their students.

PDC Meeting

The next PDC meeting for the district will take place on Thursday, April 28th from 4:15-5:30 p.m. at ASC. Please contact Mrs. Sherron if you have any questions.

Spring Choir Concert

Sixth grade choir students will perform at Eagle Glen on Thursday, April 28th at 7:00 p.m. Please contact Mr. Rew with questions regarding the performance.

BIST Vision Team Training

The BIST Vision Team will attend some additional training on Friday, April 29th after school and on Saturday, April 30th during the day.

Field Day

Field Day T-shirt order forms will be sent home on Monday, April 11th. Orders may also be placed online at: https://eagleglen16.itemorder.com. All orders are due by Friday, April 22nd. Summer School

The tentative dates for Summer School 2016 are June 6 to June 30. For grades K-8, Summer School will be four days per week (Monday-Thursday). Science, technology, engineering, arts, and math topics will be integrated into the courses. Students may choose to attend one session of two weeks, or two sessions to total four weeks. Transportation will be available to students in grades K-8. Students in grades 9-12 will have options for remediation or for enrichment. Students may attend 19 days of Summer School to earn one-half credit in a core class for credit recovery. Students may also enroll to earn one-half credit in health, physical education, or personal finance. Some elective credits are planned, and the District is exploring offering an option for driver's education. The dates of attendance will vary based on the course offering. More information about Summer School sites, class times, and course offerings will be shared soon.
