AHS Class of 2020

It's Senior Time

Hello everyone,

I pray this newsletter finds you all safe and well. I wish this was a normal newsletter but here is where we find ourselves.

Please know that I am working very hard along with AHS and Alvin ISD administrations to ensure our Senior class has all of the events they are due.

Prom at this time is still happening just at a new date. Same location.

We are working on finding a new date for Kid Day.

The Senior Trip to Typhoon Texas is still on May 8th.

ProGrad Meetings will start back up when we return to school.

Balfour delivery of invitations was set for April 2nd. I will let you know as soon as I hear from them when the new date is.

Your student's teachers should be reaching out this week to transition to online learning. If you need assistance with internet, Comcast is providing free internet. You can click this link to get more information. www.internetessentials.com

Please check your emails as teachers are reaching out now to prepare for online learning.

Please reach out to me via this letter or email me at sflores@alvinisd.net if you need anything at all even beyond Senior needs. These are trying times and we will get through this together.

Sincerely,

Sienna Flores

Graduation FAQ's

When: Sunday, May 24th, 2020

Time: 5pm

Location: NRG STADIUM

Will graduation still take place at NRG or at all?

Again, at this time we are proceeding as if things will be normal when we return to school in April. Should things change, the district will inform students and parents with plenty of time to adjust.

What is the limit of guests we can have at graduation?

There is no limit. You can have as many as you would like.

Can the date, time, or location still be moved?

I am so sorry, no they cannot.

PARKING cost?

Parking for all spectators will be $15 per vehicle. I HIGHLY suggest cash to speed the process up.

What is the dress code for graduates?

Commencement has strict dress code requirements. The purpose for this is to contribute to the dignified atmosphere our students deserve as they graduate. At Commencement, graduates must wear the designated cap, gown, and tassel. The tassel must be worn on the left side until the class is certified as graduated. Gentlemen should wear a solid white dress shirt (with a collar), regular dress tie or bow tie, solid black or solid dark blue dress trousers or slacks, regular dark colored dress shoes or boots (no tennis or casual shoes). Ladies should wear a dress with a straight skirt or a skirt with a button up blouse. The color should not show through nor extend below the gown. The dress should not be tight fitting (bodycon), strapless, or have cutouts. The dress/skirt should come to at least mid-thigh. Flats, wedge dress shoes, sandals, or heels are acceptable. No piercings other than ears. Ladies may also follow the male dress code. NO JEANS or DENIM ARE PERMITTED! Graduates who come to Commencement activities improperly attired will be turned away and not allowed to participate unless they can change into proper attire before the busses depart.

Does my graduate have to ride the bus to NRG?

Yes, all students must ride the bus from Alvin High School to NRG, they DO NOT have to ride it back. They can ride home with family or friends.
