Coach's Message

Star's Football Family

Wow, wow, wow! What a week for the North Star Nation. Congratulations to our S.C.N. softball sisters on achieving the pinnacle of I.H.S.A. athletics with their State Championship this past weekend. A huge thank you to those who made the time to return to school to welcome our champs back to our home! It made for a fantastic moment in North Star history. On the drive over, I could not help but let my mind wander and think about what it would feel like to win our first State championship. The excitement, thrill, and even some relief of a well-done job! I know it will happen, and when it does, we will enjoy every minute of it. One of the more remarkable moments for me was when the girls got out of the mini-bus to a screaming crowd of friends, family, and admirers. Their energy was authentic, and the moment's beauty was framed perfectly in the summer night sky. It was everything that high school should be about!

As a program, one of our program visions is to connect the community. This past weekend is proof positive of the impact athletics, especially winning athletics, can have on the community. I applaud the softball team for taking the leadership risk and fighting their way to legendary status. As we transition into our summer T.E.A.M. camp, the stakes are raised, and the unofficial "official" start of the 2022 campaign is about to begin. '

T.E.A.M. camp is the time when our team begins to take shape. We embark on a journey, not for the faint of heart. We work relentlessly preparing. We spend hours talking, teaching, and listening to what makes our players tick. We allow them to b vulnerable and dig into their mindset while providing tools to help them achieve their dreams. We teach our players every aspect of our program and hope that someday, it will all come together and help us realize our moment. The hard part is that I cannot promise our team any of those mentioned above. I cannot promise them a championship or even one win! But, I can promise them they will learn about themselves in our program. They will learn how to compete not only against an opponent but against themselves. They will know the value of investment and preparation. They will learn to lead and be selfless members of a greater purpose. They will learn how to be a T.E.A.M.

Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your family's story. I cannot tell you how appreciative I am to be allowed to make an impact. I recently lost a friend, and I have learned a valuable lesson through it all. It is not about how much money you make or how many toys you have. When you pass, none of that matters. The funds will be given away, and the toys will break. Your spirit can only live on in the minds and voices of those you have touched. The mission of this program is people over players. Our daily goal is to provide the correct type of mentorship to our student-athletes. I hope we can all share in this mission as we embark on this journey together.
