Sept 2 - From the Superintendent
September 2, 2022
September 2, 2022
Hello, USD 231 Patrons and Employees.
As may be the case with your children, my boys don't always share with me the outstanding achievements they may have witnessed during their school day. In our home, it goes something like this: "Hi Sam, what did you learn today?" to which he replies, "Nothing." or, when I ask Bryson, "Hey buddy, how was your day?" he quickly shuffles off, yelling over his shoulder, "It was fine."
However, I know both of these responses don't accurately reflect their experiences. I have visited every building, been in countless classrooms, and seen with my own eyes the excellence possessed by our students, teachers, support staff, sponsors, and coaches. Our district is made up of amazing people with amazing stories. One reason I was excited to write you all today is that it provided me with an opportunity to share one of these stories.
Last week, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Chris St. John returned from a tour in Erbil, Iraq. One of his first stops after returning was Wheatridge Middle School. He visited WMS to surprise his son, Liam, who didn't know he had returned to the states. Check out this CLIP for their reunion.
I am thankful for Chief Warrant Officer 3 St. John's service to our country and for every parent or guardian in our district who plays such an important role in the lives of our students.
Thank you for allowing me to be your superintendent and the opportunity to work with your children.
Sincerely,
Brian
