O. Henry Library Ledger
September 2019
What's been happening in the O. Henry Library?
Each day students drop everything and read for 15 minutes at school, which should be carrying over into healthy reading habits at home. Students come to the library before school, during lunch, and throughout the instructional day. We look forward to gearing up for Halloween soon with great scary book offerings, as well as some pretty awesome decorations in the library. Be sure you come by!

Book Pick of the Month: Ghost Boys
This heart-wrenching story follows the death of a 12- year-old boy, Jerome, who is shot by a police officer that mistakenly thinks his toy gun is real. Jerome observes the aftermath of his death as a ghost in his community and meets another ghost from history, Emmett Till, along the way. The only living person that can see him after death is the daughter of the police officer who shot him. This book grapples with socio-political issues in today's world and is a must read.
