Principal's Message
Hello Sunset Lake Families,
Happy Last Week of School for the 2019-2020 school year! This year has brought unheard-of challenges but it has also brought some wonderful moments of student-teacher connections and strong leadership building.
Thank you Sunset Lake families for all you have put into helping your child learn. I definitely never guessed on March 13th when we closed it would have turned into over 3 months of no school. We sure miss seeing our Sunset Lake Leaders' faces.
Next week's SMORE will be the last one for the year. It will be our Summer SMORE edition filled with summer resources for your families. We will also have our end of year Slideshow to share out! :)
In this edition, we have our Sunset Lake Talent Show. I am sure your family will enjoy the great talents our Sunset Lake Leaders shared virtually. Take a look-- it's great!
Finally, another end of year tradition at Sunset Lake is our wonderful Field Day. Our PE teachers have provided a great PE event in the weekly learning plan with a virtual field day! Get your body moving Sunset Lake Leaders!
Chromebook and library book return will be June 15th-18th. At that time we will also have our last student belonging pick up. If you would like to pick up your child's belongings before June 15th please contact the office at 321-1550 to make arrangements.
At this time, districts across the state are starting to create plans and different options of school for the 2020-2021 school year. We do not know what school will look like yet for next year but we will work to keep you informed over the summer months. We will be communicating your child's teacher and open house information as decisions are being made. Thank you for your patience!
Please keep in mind that we continue our message of your health and well-being is our first priority. If your family is feeling overwhelmed or stressed about the work, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your child's teacher. We are here to help!
FYI:
The weekly learning plans will continue to be sent out by me on Friday evenings and your child's teacher will be sure to share the daily plans in the Google Classroom by Monday at 7:00 am.
IMPORTANT:
PLEASE be sure to click on the Principal Letter for Weekly Plans to access your child's weekly learning plans.
If you need help with the weekly plans, please see the short video below for tips on accessing and maneuvering through the weekly plans.
We are here for you so please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns at amccaw@vicksburgschools.org
Stay Safe Sunset Lake!
Yours in Learning,

VCS Food Department Message
Dear Vicksburg Families,
The Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer Program (P-EBT) provides temporary funding to address emergency food needs and avert financial hardship for families affected by the pandemic. Students who qualify for free or reduced price meals for the current school year qualify for the P-EBT. If you were already receiving free or reduced meals during the school year, YOU DON'T NEED TO DO ANYTHING FURTHER. If you already have an EBT card, those funds will automatically be added. DHHS will mail the card to others that qualify, between now and Mid-May. The EBT card will come with directions and a phone number to call to activate the card and create a PIN.
If your income has changed due to the pandemic, please complete a Free/Reduced meals application at lunchapp.com. If you submit an application by April 27th and qualify for benefits, your funding will be retroactive to the start of the pandemic. Please submit an application as soon as possible (no later than Monday, April 27th) to ensure you receive these extra benefits!
These benefits are in addition to the free school meals the district is currently offering each Wednesday. The P-EBT funds do not expire for 1 year, so please continue to get the weekly meals and use these funds for other meals or use at a later date.
We encourage all families to take advantage of the weekly meals. They are for everyone, regardless of income, everyone qualifies!
As always, please email foodsupport@vicksburgschools.org if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Sarah Dyer, Food Service Director
