The Hoot Owl

MAY 2022

May is upon us and summer is near. We feel it here at school and I am sure you feel it at home as well. We ask that you continue to join forces with us in making school, good behavior, and attendance a priority. For our 3rd and 4th graders, STAAR is the week of May 9 and for PK-2, teachers are busily assessing growth for end of year report cards. Despite this testing upon us, learning is still taking place. Please encourage your child to do their best and finish strong!

Please take a moment and read through the attachment about summer safety tips. Always a good reminder as we enter summer season.

Summer Safety - English

Summer Safety - Spanish

*Morning car riders must be dropped off at the front door through the car rider line for safety of all students. Please do not drop off at the stop sign or in the outer parking lot and allow students to walk up to school.

*School attendance is important for learning. Students should be at school daily unless they are sick.

*Doors open at 7:35 with school starting at 8:00 a.m. Tardies begin at 8:01 am. Please help us reduce tardies this semester by making it a goal to be at school on time.

*Dismissal begins at 3:10 p.m.

*Change of transportation call ins are for emergencies only and must be called in by 2:30 p.m.

*Early pick up ends at 2:45. If you arrive after 2:45 you will need to join the car rider line.

*Coming off the I-45 feeder, car rider line starts on Oak Ridge School Road. If you enter our driveway, the right turn lane will be blocked forcing you to turn left and find the end of the line.

*Parents may not park and walk students to the building in the morning nor to pick them up in the afternoon.

*Please have your car rider sign visible in the line. If you need another sign, please call the front office and request one.

*Reminder that cells phone usage is prohibited in the car rider line per state law. This poses a safety threat to our students and staff. Please refrain from using your cell phone in the line.

Conroe ISD is currently hiring bus drivers and custodial personnel. If you are interested or know someone who is, please share the flyer below with them.

Lunch visitors are now welcome back on campus through our reservation system. Due to space limitations, just a reminder that our tables are set up outside on the exit to our large playground. Parents will greet their student in the cafeteria and then go outside to eat. If the weather is too cold or raining, we will cancel for the day. You will be notified of the cancellation through email so if it is raining or extremely cold on your day, please monitor your email.

Just a reminder that the week of STAAR testing, we will have a closed campus and no lunch visitors.

Register at the link on our webpage here.

Our attendance has been hovering about 93% and our goal for the year is 96%. Unless your child is ill, it is important for them to be here at school, on time and stay all day long.

Tardies - We begin counting tardies at 8:01 a.m. We do, however, monitor the line. We take note of the last car in line at 8:01 and all cars after that, the students are counted tardy. Currently, we have a much shorter line between 7:45 - 7:55. If you consistently arrive about 7:55, try adjusting your morning schedule by about 10 minutes, you will not have to wait in line to drop off your child. Student drop off and pick up is the line closes to the building. Do not drop off or pick up on the other side the covered drive as it is unsafe for everyone involved.
